Viva Cribb
Posthumous Induction
Viva was born on 31 January 1920 in Roderick Street, Ipswich. She was the great granddaughter of Benjamin Cribb who was one of the founders of the Cribb & Foote Department Store.
Viva was a Girls Grammar School Old Girl, a life member of the Queensland National Trust and the West Moreton Branch of the National Trust and of the Ipswich Historical Society. She was a valued and long-time member of Council's Heritage Consultative Committee.
Viva had a deep love for Ipswich and shared her memories of early Ipswich with anyone who showed an interest in the City. Viva died on 1 June 2006 at the age of 86.
On 21 July 2000, the Local History Room in the Ipswich Library was named after Viva Cribb. The purpose of the room is to ensure the preservation of information and resources specifically related to the history of Ipswich and the surrounding region for present and future generations.
The annual Viva Cribb Bursary was launched in her honour in 2008.
