CHAPTER 16

MARY STILLINGER is a criminal defense attorney in El Paso, Texas, with an emphasis in white-collar cases. She has been in private practice for over twenty years; the past fifteen as a solo practitioner. She has been board-certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1999, and has been licensed in New Mexico since 1989. Ms. Stillinger has served on the Criminal Law Advisory Committee to the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is currently the Chair of the Admissions Committee for the El Paso Division of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.

DAVID GERGER practices criminal and trial law at his own firm, Gerger & Clarke, in Houston. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America; Texas Superlawyers; Chambers Best Lawyers; and is a frequent speaker and author on criminal law. David graduated from Yale College and the University of Texas Law School; clerked for federal judges Harry Lee Hudspeth and Jerre S. Williams; and worked at Vinson & Elkins and the Federal Public Defender before starting his own firm. His recent clients include Enron CFO Andy Fastow who faced simultaneous criminal, civil, SEC, Congressional, & media crises and Jamie Olis of Dynegy (winning an 18 year reduction in his securities fraud sentence). In the immigration area, David most recently represented the owner of a company in Houston charged with hiring or harboring aliens.
