Workshops
Orientation: This workshop will provide you with an overview of CareerPoint MARIN’s services as well as the services of our core partner agencies. Career Assessment: Career Assessment is the first step of the career planning process. There are many things to consider before choosing a career. This workshop will help you identify occupational interests, including your personality, interests, and skills. At the end you will have a list of careers that are a good fit for you. Career Exploration: Career exploration is the second step of the career planning process. This workshop will teach individuals how to gather some basic information about occupations and narrow down the list to the one career that is the best fit. This will include looking at what careers are in high demand, along with the salary, education and training requirements of the positions. Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) Scholarship Application Overview: A WIOA Scholarship can be used to help you obtain the educational or training required for your chosen career. This workshop provides an overview of the application process, the criteria used to determine an individual’s eligibility and that of the training program. In addition, you will receive a list of resources available to support you with the completion and submission of the WIOA scholarship application. Resumes: Learn how to write your resume to fit the needs of your future employer. Position your skills and accomplishments to make your resume stand out from the rest. Learn the key points on what makes a good cover letter.
Interviewing Techniques: Learn interviewing skills and strategies to respond to questions that best demonstrate your knowledge and qualifications. Demonstration and rehearsal is part of this class.

job.

Acceptance – having respect and following direction
Appreciation – demonstrate your gratitude towards

Attending this workshop series provides an opportunity to
apply in-person learning to real-world scenarios. Exercises
are designed to help participants apply the experiences they
have had in life already, learn by doing, and be able to apply
these skills immediately in the work environment.
Following completion participants are eligible to earn their
Certificate of Work Ethic Proficiency.
This is a 3-day workshop series, attendance on the first day (Tuesday)
is required in order to attend the other classes. Check the website

Career Services Technology Skills Training with Technology4Life Introduction to Basic Computers and Email This is a hands-on course designed for first-time computer users. Learn how to start your computer and turn it off, use the mouse and keyboard to perform basic computer tasks, identify the basic parts of a computer and their use, search the Internet to find information and set up an email account.
Introduction to Word Learn to create, edit, save and print Word documents. Learn to use the Word ribbon bar tools and how to insert pictures, graphics and styles for professional looking documents.
Google Docs & Drive Google Docs is a powerful, collaborative document editing tool. In this class, you will earn to use Docs for formatting, editing, saving and sharing. Learn to organize with Google Drive.
Introduction to Excel Learn to create, edit, save and print Excel spreadsheets. Learn tips and tricks in the Excel interface for efficient data entry. Learn how to format text, numbers and dates, sorting and creating simple formulas.
Google Sheets Learn the basics of Google's spreadsheet program: how to use for rapid data entry, organizing information, formatting. Learn how to share with others for collaborative editing as well as downloading for sending via email.
Resume Formatting This class will teach the basics of formatting your resume in Word or Google Docs. Learn how to use styles and tabs for consistent layout. Practice saving, downloading and uploading. Bring your resume information (i.e. work experience, skills, education, etc.) to class.
LinkedIn Learn how to setup and update your profile, make connections to colleagues and friends, research companies and search for jobs.
Typing Test Independent typing practice is available when classroom is open and space is available. Typing tests can be administered during any session. Certification provided.
