Goodwill Manasota and the Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast
Florida are teaming together for a fabulous Fashion Show
and Luncheon with some amazing models from the Junior League
of Sarasota who also serve as Role Models. JULY 22, 2016
ABOUT THE EVENT
Last year, this sold out event drew more than 300 fashionistas,
who love to see fashions from Goodwill. This year the Girl Scouts
will be repurposing black dresses and incorporating their own
designs to be modeled by the Junior League Role Models.
In addition to the luncheon and fashion show, Goodwill helps
educate the Girl Scouts about protecting the environment through
their reduce-reuse-repurpose program while the Junior League
helps the Girl Scouts obtain knowledge about becoming young
philanthropists and giving back to their community.

92.1 CTQ has partnered with Goodwill Manasota to bring
the hottest young acts in country music to Sarasota for a
once in a lifetime musical experience and we want you to be
right there with us as we introduce these rising stars to the
Suncoast. Sponsorship of this unique concert draws
outstanding promotional opportunities to an expanded
audience.
Last year, the concert sold out with a crowd of more than
2,000 people. This year, we have a bigger location with a

season, the Mardi Gras Gala. Guests dress in beads and masks, enjoy
amazing Cajun food such as shrimp etouffee, crab cakes, jambalaya, New
Orleans-style drinks with open bar, fabulous silent and live auction items,

This is the twelfth year of the event, which was conceived by Michael’s
On East co-proprietor, Philip Mancini, in response to the devastation of
our Goodwill family in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. Funds raised at
the time, went to help those in need there and locally for Goodwill
Manasota. The Gala has since evolved to be the largest fundraiser of the
year for us and goes to support all our special initiatives.
2017 Co-chairs are Lisa and Stanley Eding, both Goodwill Ambassadors
and community members who have made a commitment to share the
mission of Goodwill Manasota. This event is always sold out … so make

Lives Through the Power of Work and share the Goodwill story
strengthens Goodwill mission delivery, sales, outreach and the

everyone must first come to a Lunch & Learn. At the lunch, they
learn the history, business model, mission, programs and services,
and are offered a Behind-the-Scenes tour of store operations.
Every month about 30-40 people come to the Lunch & Learn.

The Good Readers program provides books to Title 1 schools, as well as engages Goodwill Ambassadors on special reading days. Books are donated to the schools and also the stu-dents. For some, this is the first time they’ve had their own book to keep.
The Good Futures program connects our Goodwill Ambassadors to youth who are transitioning out of foster care, and provide resources and mentorships to help them obtain a better future.
The Good Neighbor program provides free classes and workshops to the community which are held in our Community Rooms throughout the counties we serve. Ambassadors, who are leaders in their fields, share their experience and knowledge with the community.

Goodwill Industries was one of the first organizations to respond to the multitude of
challenges faced by veterans and their families. Goodwill has designed programs and
services in response to the federal initiative and call to action - ‘Joining Forces,
Taking Action to Serve American Military Families’ - from First Lady Michelle Obama
and Dr. Jill Biden.
Goodwill anticipates an increased need for our programs when commonly accessed
veteran services and resources are overextended and unable to accommodate all the
needs.
We are committed to improving the education and wellness opportunities for
veterans and military families through case coordination and mentoring. Hiring
veterans is not charity – it is an investment in our community.
Goodwill Manasota’s goal is to enhance integration into the community while
honoring our veterans with the appropriate respect for their service to our country
and our community.
With the alliances of community partners we are able to maximize resources and
avoid duplication of services, to help transition our veterans into employment
aligned with their vocational goals - hence reducing and eliminating barriers to
employment and providing opportunities for higher paying positions for veterans
and their families.
