Evaluation Task 1In what way does your media product, use,

develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

This picture represents the lyrics, ‘take me to the hospital’ because the main character of the video here is getting hit by a cooking pan. This shows that he would probably need to be admitted to hospital.

1.

This picture shows that the artist may make some violent and upbeat music and this would appeal to most young teenagers so therefore this would make them want to buy the music.

2.

This section of our video shows that the person is dancing therefore this show that the song is an upbeat song of a Drum’N’Bass/Dance genre.

3.

In this shot we have shown how the added light effect make it seem as if the character is injured. This gives the audience the impression that this is a serious fight with some humor added in at some points.

4.

This shot represents the fact that I have used a tilted camera angle to give the effect of a ‘trippy’ dream.

5.

In these two shots you can see how we have tried to add a dreamy effect to the video by making the ‘reality’ side of the video lighter and more crisp than the ‘dream’ side of the video.

6.

This shot shows the fact that they are all socializing in a dining room/kitchen. I thought that this would be a good mise-en-scene shot to show this.

7.

These two shots show that I have watched other music videos because the first shot from Ok Go’s video ‘WTF?’. This gave me the idea to go wacky with our video and have the actors dress in weird clothing and in animal masks.

Evaluation Task 2How effective is the combination of

your main product and ancillary texts?

DIGI Pack

Here is our DIGI Pack, we have used the Digital Imaging Suit in order to create this and it was quite simple to use once we knew how to use it.

For our DIGI Pack we went for some gruesome themed pictures to go with the song title, ‘Take Me To The Hospital’. We thought that this would be a great connection between our song and the DIGI Pack.

Magazine Advert

This is our Magazine Advert for our CD. For this we have gone for using the picture from the front cover and making it the main focus point for the advertisement.

As you can see on the advert we have included all of the information needed to promote the CD, for example, the release date, tour dates, band and song names and where it is available to buy.

CD Cover

As you can see here there is a link between our video and the CD cover in the way that out actor in the video is lying on the floor ‘passed out’ and the CD cover picture look as if he is in trouble with the hands up and the blood coming from his eyes.

DIGI Pack

As you can see here there is a relationship between these two shots because it is almost as if they are both getting injured in almost the same way. In the video our actor is being hit with a source pan and in the picture he is getting his eyes taken away by some kind of vacuum. This relates because they are both being injured in someway on the head.

DIGI Pack

The relationship here is where our actor passed out and on our DIGI Pack we have a picture of someone who also looks as if they are passed out. Because this picture is on the back of the CD Cover this has a connection because in the video this is the section were he passes out for the second time and then comes back into reality, so therefore they are both happening at the end, e.g. the picture at the back of the CD Cover and our actor passing out at the end of the video.

Evaluation Task 3What have you learned from your

audience feedback?

1. class and teacher feedback on your initial treatment

We got some good positive initial feedback from our class. When we asked them if they would prefer a violent video to a non-violent video most of our class answered with ‘violent’. This was good we wanted to do a violent video for our video.

For what we wanted to do I think that we have chosen the right audience to aim for when it comes to a violent video. The questionnaire helped us determine what to do and what not to do in out music video.

2. class feedback and teacher feedback

Shown above is the questionnaire that we use to gain our audience feedback for our music video.

When we got our questionnaire's back it was clear what the audience wanted from our video.

The main question that we focused on for our video was, “Would you prefer to see a violent video or a video with no violence?”, it was clear from the chart below that most of our audience preferred a violent video to a non-violent video.

Would you prefer to see a violent video or a video with no violence?

ViolenceNo Violence

3. class feedback on your DIGI Pack roughs

Shown beside is our sketch of what we wanted on our front cover and our inside cover.

Initially everyone liked our ideas and thought that they went well with our song choice.

For the CD panel and the back cover the feedback I got was generally positive. A lot of people liked the idea of having the track listing on the back panel in an arrow head style as this gave it more character.

In our feedback I noticed that a some people said that the actual outcome was much more detail and overall better than the original sketches.

4. final version of everything and feedback

This is our final outcome of our DIGI Pack. Our feedback as a whole for this was very positive, most people liked our use of colour and the graphics. Some people also noticed the link that the CD cover had with the video.

Overall we were very happy with our outcome and our feedback to our outcome, we thought it was successful.

Evaluation Task 4How did you use new media technologies in the

construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

A Samsung Video Camera and a Tripod

In order to film our video we used a Samsung Video Recorder and a Tripod courtesy of our media department. The camera was very easy to use and it was quite small and robust. It was easy to get the video that we shot from the camera onto the computer so that we could do our editing.

The Tripod that we used was also very easy to use and made our video make experience much easier. It catered for everything we wanted to do.

The Computer We Used

We used a computer like the shown above. The reason we used this computer is because it has a video editing software on it that really suited what Jordan and I were looking for. The software that we use was Sony Vegas Movie Studio, this is an easy but effective piece of software to use. It all the effects we wanted to use and made it easy to do.

Blogger.com

In order to display our work we used a software site called blogger. The first thing we had to do is set up our account which did not take up to much time. We then needed to get used to the website so we tried a few things out and then eventually started on our design for our personal site. We then learned how to post documents and link to other websites such as Facebook and YouTube.

YouTube.com

I used YouTube to present our final product. This is where we allowed people to ‘Like’ or ‘Dislike’ and leave their feedback on certain things of the video. The video didn’t take very long to upload and it was easy to do.

Slideshare.com

We used Slideshare to present the work that I have done and this could then be easily linked to the blogger website so that we could easily show our work. This was easy to use and was helpful for us to see what people thought of our work.

Facebook.com

We also used Facebook to promote our video for the first time. Much like YouTube this was so that people could comment on the video and give us feedback. This was also available for many more people to view rather than facebook.
