Inspiring and connecting great entrepreneurs. Emerging Stars
The Media for Business Development Foundation (MBDF) promotes
private sector development in developing countries through media
instruments, like television and the Internet. Capacity building activities
are integrated throughout these programmes. The Foundation works
closely with (and for) organisations that assist entrepreneurs in emerging
countries.
EmergingStars.com - An interactive website, B2B platform and
newsletter, offers tips, advice and success stories on entrepreneurs in
emerging economies. With 25 000 visitors per month and 10 500
newsletter subscribers, Emerging Stars allows entrepreneurs to list their
business opportunities and negotiate business deals, working closely
with (and for) organisations that assist entrepreneurs in emerging
countries.
Africa Report TV - Started in 2009 by the MBDF, now into its sixth
series, inspires the audience with success stories of African
entrepreneurs. The TV-series guides viewers to the online platform
EmergingStars.com where they can connect with investors, financial
institutions, entrepreneurs and business schools from around the
continent.
Emerging Stars TV - The second TV project of the MBDF, profiles
charismatic, successful entrepreneurs from emerging countries around
the world who have established high-impact companies. The
TV-series guides viewers to the online platform EmergingStars.com.
Emerging Stars will be broadcast on national and global TV stations,
including channels like CNBC Africa (broadcast in 41 countries) and
Deutsche Welle (210 million households in Europe, Asia, Africa and the
Americas).
For over six years, we’ve been broadcasting in more than 40 countries around the globe. Our good rankings provide a case in point.
The majority of our featured entrepreneurs have started highly successful, sustainable Small to Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs). This puts us in a unique position, as the de facto TV programme of choice for business peo-ple, companies, organisations and initiatives that support these entrepreneurs.
Our methods are editorial, not advertorial, the power of storytelling versus pure advertising. That’s because we have a long history in journalism that captures the essence of information-driven documentaries.
Our continent-wide expansion is proof of the quality of our programming. Couple this with our insistence on developing the skills and capabilities of local camera crews and you get a product that drives social impact through authentic quality.
High-impact entrepreneurs create successful
companies that employ hundreds, even
thousands of people, and generate millions in
wages and revenues. They have the power to
inspire others as leading role models and they
hold the key to sustained economic growth in
emerging markets.
Many entrepreneurs dream of becoming the
next great success story, but having launched
in emerging countries, face serious barriers to
growth. Lack of role models, limited access to
capital and poor infrastructure are some of the
challenges that they deal with. In our series we
profile charismatic, successful entrepreneurs
who beat the odds and established high
impact companies.
