This Resource Book is prepard by the Church of South India Department of Ecumenical Relations and Ecological Concerns, to be used on June 10, 2012 (Sunday following the World Environment Day 2012). The theme is "Turn to God: Turn to Green" and this is in support of the UNEP Theme for WED- 2012, "Green Economy: Does it Include You?".

Proposed Ecological Programmes for 2012-2014

We request all the churches in the Church of South India to organize at least one programme from each of the following categories in the current year.

? Theoretical

o Organizing ecological conventions at the diocesan level

o Holding interactive eco-Bible study program

o Organizing training camps for resource persons

o Training eco-missionaries

o Eco-training program in Sunday Schools, Youth Meetings and

during VBS

o Holding international/national/regional conferences

? Practical

o Celebrating days of ecological significance, especially

Environment Sunday

o Forming deanery/district/ area and parish level eco-

committees and eco-clubs in Schools

o Eco-management in schools and churches

o Encouraging solid waste management and avoiding

disposable plastic products

o Rain water harvesting

o Exploring alternative energy sources

o Organic farming

o Planting of trees saplings

? Advocacy

o Producing eco-literature and vegetable garden hand-booko Producing posters and banners concerning ecologyo Campaigning against industrial and environmental

pollutionso Organizing environmental rallyo Producing paper bags and cupso Joining with governments and civil societies in eco-concerns o Save the Earth' and 'Forests for Life' campaigns

? Aesthetical o Painting/Photography competitionso Eco-tour/pilgrimageo Encouraging eco-church architecture

? Evaluative

o Eco-auditing

o Presenting awards for Green Diocese, Green Parish, Green Schools and Green Homes.
