Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship

“A management and leadership style that involves

pursuing opportunity without regard to the resources

currently controlled.”

(Adapted from Stanford University’s Technology Entrepreneurship course, 2015)

A process.

Involves leadership, creativity, risk, a vision.

Obtaining, generating, managing some resources

Does not necessarily imply creating a new organization.

Creating value for someone

Radically changing the world

Thinking outside the box

Solving a problem

All of the above

Innovation

The process of translating an idea into a good or service

which creates value for some customers in an

economically sustainable way.

Replicable in a viable way

A market

Differentiation

A need or expectation -> Better than existing solutions -> Willing

to pay

Not just new for the sake of being new.

Evolutionary

Radical

innovation

Innovation in businesses

Revolutionary changes

New ways to

understand and

address the problems

of the world.

Evolutionary processes

Cheaper,

Faster,

Better…

Innovation in businesses arises from

Two forms of generating value.

Homework 1

Individually describe any business you know or own

Try to focus on its model:

What does it do?

How?

Why?

For whom?

You will submit the description by email before the classstarts

Be ready to present and discuss your homework.

Classwork 2

Join one of the channels

You have been randomized, check your email for the notification.

You have 15 minutes to discuss:

How are businesses coping with the COVID-19 pandemic?

Is it a good moment to become an entrepreneur now? Yes? No? Why?

COVID-19 pandemic, challenge, pitfall or opportunity?

Choose a representative for the group.

Submit your team conclussions (bullet points) via email (rojavier@javeriana.edu.co), write all the names.

When we return to the main channel, that person will present the team’sconclussions.

Step 1

Come up with at least five entrepreneurial ideas

Individually prepare a card for each, indicating

A description of the idea in few words

An explanation of why you think it is an opportunity

If you solve a problem or generate value for someone, explain what,

whose and how.

You will submit the cards at the beginning of the class.

Make sure you bring them, we will use them for a class activity.

You have two homeworks

Slide 34 is your “theoretical homework”

Slide 37 (Step 1) is your “practical homework”

Submit them via email before next Monday (10/08), keep an

eye on your email.

Both are individual

Form a group and come up with ideas!

Thanks for your attention!Don’t forget the homework and see you next class.
