• Emperor penguins live in Antarctica. They are black, white, and yellow. Emperor penguins live up twenty five years. The Emperor penguin is about four feet tall and weighs 65 to85 pounds. This is the size of a first or second grade child.

• The baby Emperor penguin stands up to 14 to 16 inches high and weighs about 2 pounds.

• Emperor penguins are found in Antartica all year round. They can survive the long cold winter. Emperor penguin start their long walk on the frozen sea in the middle of winter.

• Emperor penguins can dive briefly to depths of 250 meters or more chasing fish, their main diet.

• Emperor penguins do not make nests. They balance the egg on their feet. If the female Emperor penguin does not return from the ocean, the male abandons his egg or chick and walks back to the water. If he stays with the chick he will die of starvation.

• Father Emperor penguins don’t eat for three months while they wait for the mother to come back. Their job is to keep the egg warm.

• Emperor penguins can dive 2,000 feet underwater. The predators of the Emperor penguin is leopard seals and Killer whales.

• Emperor penguins have a call like three trumpets playing all at once .

• The fathers huddle together through winter to stay warm.

• Males and females look the same but make different sounds.
