The Ministry coordinates with national higher education institutions to admit students in various majors in line with the needs of the labour market and future human developmentplans. Higher Education institutions also determine the number of students that can be admitted according to their capabilities, mission and goals. They also set the conditions forstudents’ admission to various programmes according to the stream they graduated from, the levels of their performance in the secondary stage, and their results from theEmirates Standard Assessment Test.Integration and coordination between General and Higher Education systems allow for the approval and calculation of school study courses within university studies
according to the school stream and university specialisation, which reduces the duration of university studies.

• This Stream aims to create an educational environment that prepares a distinguished generation of scientists, engineers, doctors, and future leaders who possess knowledge depth and great skill diversity, and who will in turn contribute in building a strong knowledge-based economy, which is consistent with the visions and aspirations of the United Arab Emirates.
• Elite is considered an advanced and competitive academic stream, as it has been designed for distinguished academic students, especially in Mathematics and Science.
• After completing the Elite stream, students compete for the best available academic seats in international and local universities.
Elite Stream• Getting preparation that deals with
cognitive depth in scientific subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology, which qualifies students to confidently join engineering, scientific and medical disciplines

Elite Stream– MOE Capstone
• The Capstone Program is one of the most prominent programs developed for Elite stream students, and it is one of the mostimportant means to qualify Grade 11 and 12 students for university level, as it establishes the principles of scientific research,thus paving the way for higher studies.
• Capstone adopts the best international standards as it is inspired from one of the diploma programs offered by the CollegeBoard which is the global advanced sciences program AP Capstone. The MOE Capstone takes the Emirates NationalInnovation Strategy as a pillar to select the topics of the scientific research planned to be studied in Grades 11 and 12.
• The MOE Capstone program focuses on the fundamentals of scientific research by introducing students to methods of criticalthinking, preparing scientific reviews and how to select and document reliable scientific references and use programs andscientific sources that enable them to smoothly conduct scientific research.
• The program provides an opportunity for students to be creative by giving them the opportunity to select the topic of theirresearch that is related to one of the pillars of the National Innovation Strategy. Students work in groups supervised by thesubject teacher and one of the university professors in the country to complete their scientific research within the specified timeperiod.
• Students in Grade 11 prepare plans that include risk assessments and lists of requirements and prepare feasibility studies fortheir scientific research and study how they are applied. With the assistance of their supervisors, students finish preparing adetailed report of their Grade 12 work plan to implement their research project.
• In Grade 12, students begin to prepare for the implementation of their research project by learning the technical basics thathelp them complete the project and obtain a product that reflects their research plan. Students present their scientific research,plans, results, conclusions and compare these to their initial plans, after which they present the scientific project implementedat the end of the year to ensure their successful graduation from the program.

o Since their inception, the Applied Technology High Schools have made a quantum leap in applied technology education, aiming to enable Emirati students to obtain technical and academic skills through a practical context that connects learning with the real world, in order to prepare them to become prominent in their future careers, active members of society, and confident lifelong learners, within included effective training programs in the field of advanced technology in partnership with the government and the business community sector.
o In implementation of the policies of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, which took into account the needs of the local labor market, Secondary Technical Schools were established aiming to empower Emiratis who have passed Grade 8 with competencies necessary to lead future development in the country, through a work environment based on continuing technical and vocational education and lifelong training in partnership with the industrial and economic sector.
In light of the rapid positive developments in the education sector in the country, and the diversification witnessed in the national economy, these two educational institutions in the current school year 2019/2020 have tended to restructure the school disciplines within a broad process of integration between them to create an educational entity, under the name of Applied Technology High School, which strengthens joint cooperation and has the potential to deal with these rapid developments with high efficiency.

General Technical Stream• The general technical stream offers a set of basic subjects
such as Applied Mathematics, Science, Arabic and English
languages, Islamic education, Social Studies, Moral
Education, Computer Sciences, and “Technology Trends" that
start in Grade 9 and increase with students’ progress
throughout school stages, which gives them the possibility to
skip the foundation year at university.
• Students are also awarded a BTEC Diploma according to
their major - Level 3 of the Business and Technology

Advanced Science ProgramASP
• The Advanced Science Program is a distinguished
academic program which encourages students’
scientific research spirit and gives them integrated
educational experiences, based on the subjects of
Mathematics and Science, supported by many
practical applications and laboratory experiments, and
helps refine linguistic skills, and superior skills such as
communication, cooperation, and critical thinking,
creativity, and innovation.
• The program qualifies students to pass the Advanced
Level Test (AP) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT),
allowing them to pass some subjects of their first year
of university if their marks on these tests are high
enough.
Advanced Technical Stream• The advanced technical stream introduces "unified
science and knowledge", and "technology trends" that
start in Grade 9 and increase with students’ progress
throughout school stages, thus ensuring them a
distinguished education for joining higher education
institutions.
