Lowcountry Local First a 501(c)(3) founded in 2007 with the vision ofcultivating a vibrant interdependent community that builds the foundationfor a strong local economy. Our mission is to advocate for the benefits of a
local living economy by strengthening community support of ourlocal-independent businesses and farmers.
O U R M E M B E R S
Since inception in 2007, we have increased our mem-
bership to over 450 business, community and sponsor
members. The members of LLF recognize the impor-
tance of supporting our friends and neighbors in busi-
ness and know that by building relationships within
the community, we are creating a sustainable business
model for those working in a variety of fieldsfrom
retail to agriculture.
Our members represent a range of small and large lo-
cal, independent businesses. Some of these businesses
have been a part of the Charleston community for over
100 years, while others are entrepreneurs looking to
establish themselves and show support. Some of our
higher level sponsors and long-time supporters include
Pearlstine Distributors, FIG Restaurant, Croghans
Jewel Box, Limehouse Produce, WonderWorks and
Maverick Southern Kitchens.

Lowcountry Local Firsts Sustainable Agriculture Initiative is growing andsupporting the local food systems by connecting local farms, apprentices, and artisans to businesses and individuals who hunger for farm fresh food
and goods. Through a variety of education, outreach and apprentice pro-grams, were working to get good food to good people and ensure that ouragrarian culture continues to be an integral part of the Lowcountryeconomy and way of life.
The first annual Eat Local Month will be a celebration ofthe bounty of local food available in the Lowcountry andwill take place throughout the month of April 2012.
Eat Local Month will provide fun and educationalopportunities for our community to actively engagein eating what is ripe, delicious and in season. Thecommunity will be able to directly connect with thefarmers, restaurants, businesses and organizations thatmake the Lowcountry unique.
The funds raised from Eat Local Month go directlytoward our work in Sustainable Agriculture. LLF isproud to have put 40 apprentices through our Growing
New Farmers Program in the last two years. We willbe launching our farm incubator and training center in2012, which will provide an opportunity for farmersto share land, equipment, resources and expertise atminimal cost while building their market.
