1st use of Papyrus (4000 B.C.E)

The raw material of Papyrus comes

from a plant that grew along the

banks of the Nile River. Papyrus was

used to make paper, rope, baskets

Pyramid

Large Triangular tombs where important people (Pharaohs) were buried.

Embalming

The Egyptians were the first to embalm their dead.

Embalming was for the purpose of preserving the body so that the soul could return to it after the completion of the “Circle of Necessity”.

Embalming

Was more sanitary, people working with the dead did not get sick. It saved lives.

Ink

Egyptians mixed soot with vegetable gum and bee’s wax.

It was AMAZING ink!

When looking at Egyptian

text written centuries ago-

the writing is still clear

and legible.

365 Day Calendar

A solar system established calendar, based on 12 months of 30 days each with 5 extra days.

The Egyptians also devised the Leap Year calendar of adding an extra day every 4th year circa 238 B.C.E.
