• Digital cinema becomes a reality all over Europe

• This trend will accelerate in 2010:– VPF deals signed with third parties in many countries– Mutualisation plans, or state-funded roll-out being set-up– 3D more and more digital screens in Europe

• But still few european content available in digital

ContextContext

• Difficult to understand how to do a digital release– What material is needed ?– Where can I get it?– Who pays for what?– Which service providers can do the job?– What are the prices?– DCP, KDM, hard-drive, dematerialised transport, what’s all

this ?– Is it financially viable for me?

The LibraryThe Library• The EDCL is an online library, where digital material will be

stored

• Every member of the project has access to it

• And can easily distribute its title directly from it:– Find existing DCPs

– Add your subtitles and localisation details

– Store your digital material

– Manage your release (dematerialised transport, key generation, hard drive follow-up etc.)

• To help you fill this library, you will benefit from a technical and financial support

Next stepsNext steps

• Waiting for the official answer from MEDIA, and the last budgetary adjustments

• December: paperwork

• It should be operational in January 2010

• Europa Distribution will be your main contact for all non-technical issues

How will it work ?How will it work ?

• If you wish to release one of your title digitally, contact us:– To see if a DCP already exists in the library– If the producer has already or is willing to have a DCP done

(we will be able to support him then)– To study with you how we will able to support your costs

for the encoding work

• When the DCP is in the library, we will also be able to support the localisation work
