Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson at an environmental-teach first held on April 22, 1970. Earth Day is the largest, most widely celebrated international environmental event. Earth Day helps celebrate Earth’s unique place in the universe. It is the only planet in our solar system teeming with incredible biodiversity and protecting this biodiversity is what Earth Day is all about. It is a day to think about our planet and what we can do to keep it special.
