Hey there teachers and administrators!! Are you ready to digitally interact with your colleagues and students?

• Communities are built into edmodo, so teachers can join groups and build their PLN, professional learning networks. Ideally, they can also "stay" in their professional development groups and extend the learning and conversation beyond the limits of the course and project facilitator. Additionally, it models this kind of learning for teachers to use in their own classrooms. Revolution!

How To Get Started Using Edmodo with your students

Step One: Get Parents On Board!

Adapt and send home this parent letter to be signed- or make your own. (Files are at bottom of link)

We strongly advise parents sign the bottom of the parent letter and return to you prior to the student creating an edmodo account.

Step Two: Create a D5 Teacher Edmodo Account

• In the URL, type in d5.edmodo.com. Get your school’s special d5 code from your friendly InTec.

Step Three: Teach Digital Citizenship

1. Review Digital Citizenship with your Students.2.Review the student contract *with your class. You can always adapt this contract to meet the needs of your students.3. Step Four: Sign Up Students1. Once in the URL, type in d5.edmodo.com.

2. Click on “I’m a student”.

(You can sign up students yourself, or do as a class)

Students will all enter the same group code (that you have created and distributed to them). Keep this private, do not distribute electronically!

Tip: usernames must be unique, so save your sanity and create a uniform systemex: soesheatherr OR opesandreab(school, first name and last intial.Going only with names creates a problem, especially with common names, because this is a tool that is used worldwide.

For passwords, use your school and student number in the classex: hec11 or dfes7

Be Internet safe and use only the first initial of the student’s last name!

Groups:Teachers, you will initially click on create to make a class. When naming the class, keep it specific in case students are using edmodo in multiple classes.

Ex: Mrs. Bishop’s IBC 2nd Graders

Add assignments, quizzes, polls, even videos!!

Coach Your Students for a Smooth Transition into Edmodo CollaborationsMost important: Make SURE they post to the entire class that you have created. (See your InTec for assistance).

Have students write the district D5 edmodo web address in their agendas(d5. edmodo.com) as well as their username and password.
