The Aftermath

The lockout ended in early 1914, when Larkin and Connolly were rejected from the TUC (Trades Union Congress)

Workers refused to join a union, even when back at work.

The ITGWU was badly damaged by its defeat in the lockout.

The lockout left a deep legacy of bitterness between employers and workers, and between workers and the police.

This bitterness had a great effect personally and politically on many figures who would come to dominate Irish Politics in the following years. Eg.
