Dr. Seuss was born on March 2, 1904. His mother and father named him Theodor Seuss Geisel. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Dr. Seuss went to school too. He used to draw crazy pictures on all of his schoolbooks. His parents worried about him being too silly. He had a big imagination!

He began his career as a cartoonist and married Helen Palmer in 1927.

In 1936, Dr. Seuss wrote his first book. He sent it to fourty-three publishers. Finally, a friend published And To Think I Saw It On Mulberry Street in 1937.
