Downloadable Audio Books

Free from the CT state Library !

Log in to the Library homepage http://rhinocat.taftschool.org and choose the Interlibrary Loan link to enter iCONN.org, Connecticut’s resource sharing site.

Choose the Downloadable Audiobooks link.

From here you can search for specific books and authors, or browse a collection

Search and select an available audio book. (You may also place a hold on an audio book that is checked out.) Add the audio book to your bookshelf.

When you choose, Add to bookshelf, you will be prompted to enter your 14 digit Taft library barcode. (It’s on your debit card)

You have successfully added this title to the bookshelf. You can also reserve a popular title and will be prompted to provide an email address so you will be notified when it becomes available. Go to your bookshelf and click on the Download Now button

"The Women by T.C. Boyle" has been added to your bookshelf.

This screen will appear. You may also go back to the bookshelf and return the book, but once you have downloaded it, it will remain on your bookshelf until the date of return. If you haven’t already downloaded Ingram Media Manager you will be prompted to download it at this point.

Simply follow the prompts to install the Ingram Media Manager (IMM) plugin. Once installed, IMM will make it possible for you to download the title.

Once the IMM is installed choose .The title will appear and the book will begin downloading to your computer.

When the download has finished, you will see a window like this prompting you to transfer it to a device.

Connect your iPod or handheld device to your computer and turn it on.

You will be prompted to select your device. Make sure you have connected your iPod or device to your computer and turned it on, before you select an icon from this screen. iTunes should open and IMM will display a window that tells you that your device is connected, the amount of available space, and whether your title will fit on your device or iPod.

The IMM will display a window that lets you choose all, or part of a book to download. Select Next and your download will begin.

You will get a screen message when the transfer is complete.

If you are using an iPod the audio book will NOT be added to your iTunes library, although you need iTunes for the process to work. Ingram Media Manager will use iTunes to transfer the audio book, but again, it will not add it to your iTunes library.

If you are using one of the other supported portable devices along with Windows Media Player, your audio book will automatically be added to your Windows Media Player library. These files will stay in your library as secure WMA files, and can be played from within Windows Media Player, or on your portable device.

The book will remain on your iPod for time period you selected at checkout, a maximum of two weeks. It will stay on the iPod after the two weeks as long as you don’t sync your iPod with your iTunes library. Good Luck with this process.
