VII. Appendix

In exceptional cases, the dossier may be abbreviated in the following ways. These abbreviations should be discussed with the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs prior to creating the dossier. See also section 6 of the UCAPT Manual. • May use different school/department committees for administrative assessments • Personal statement may not be available • Could ask official or colleague at candidate’s current institution for information on the

candidate as a teacher and mentor • Service information may be available from candidate’s CV or the public record • May use a smaller number of referees (the number must be approved by the Vice Provost

for Faculty Affairs) • Evidence of scholarship may be available from the public record

Senior Lateral Appointments and Transformative Hires

• Send original dossier AND reconsideration dossier • Reconsideration dossier should only include the

new evidence (divided into sections as appropriate) • Reconsideration dossier should include full hard

copy, abbreviated hard copy, and electronic copy
