North Africa Business Development Forum26th of November 2014
The XI NAbdF aims at creating a sustainable development model for the region based on a transparent and efficient ad-ministration, as well as a more open and dynamic business environment and concrete improvements in the quality of life of the citizens.
This year the focus will be on the 25th anniversary of the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA).Since its foundation in 1989, the UMA is facing serious challenges in achieving its objectives: the creation of joint structures for regional cooperation. The occasion of the 25th anniversary represents an opportunity for reflection on how to overcome these concerns. Is it time to consider a new strategic direction for the region? What role can civil society play in this new approach?

Free and Special Economic Zones Summit26th of November 2014
Ascame and Femoza want to establish an action plan to in-crease the absorption of foreign investment and provide a safe and comfortable scenario for future projects, not only in their decision-making process, but also during the implemen-tation and exploitation of their business.
Free Trade Zones, in addition to the benefits and advantages they offer, still need to strengthen their role as providers of infrastructure and services. This forum aims to discuss the strengths and weaknesses inherent in the free zones in the region and to establish guidelines for a program of action and present two areas including that of the Mediterranean.

Mediterranean Entrepreneurship Forum26th of November 2014
Entrepreneurship is generally recognized as a vital element in economic development and an driving face for private sector growth and diversity. It plays a major role in contributing to capital formation, creating employment opportunities, reduc-ing the concentration of economic powers, inducing forward and forward linkages in an economy, creating and distribut-ing wealth, and generally promoting economic growth.
The Mediterranean countries must move towards more pri-vate sector oriented economies, there is an urgent need to encourage and support entrepreneurship, and to foster a generation of young entrepreneurs who have the knowledge and business culture to take advantage of the wealth of op-portunities in the future.
In light of that, Ascame, UfM, Unimed in cooperation with Interactive Business universities, schools and others Network are organizing this year the 1st Mediterranean Forum for En-trepreneurship in Economy.

The 6th edition Meditour
The Mediterranean: A Sea of Enchantment
Shared History…Common DestinyThe history of the Mediterranean is the chronicle of the in-teraction of the cultures and people of the lands surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, an area that played a larger-than-life role in the progress of civilization.
The Mediterranean has been a principal artery of transport, trade and cultural exchange between diverse peoples, en-compassing three continents: Western Asia, North Africa, and Southern Europe.
It is the lifeline that nourished the Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Canaanite, Phoenician, Carthaginian, Greek, Roman, Byz-antine, Ottoman, Christian and Islamic cultures, and helped to shape a Mediterranean identity and a common destiny, as well as a unique brand.
MEDITOUR 2014: Focus on LebanonThis year, MEDITOUR 2014 will have a special focus on Lebanon as one of the jewels in the Mediterranean crown and especially on Beirut, natural meeting point, which has regained its status of tourist, cultural, and intellectual centre, as well as a hub for commerce, fashion, and media. Through the ages, Beirut’s Phoenix-like rebirth, has fascinated visitors

and captivated the world’s imagination thanks to its cosmo-politan and open-minded features and the interaction of the ancient with the ultramodern.
The forum is jointly organized by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIA-BML) and the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME).
MEDITOUR 2014: Main Challenges & OpportunitiesOur forum will take place against the backdrop of declining tourist arrivals to the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Countries (SEMCs), primarily due to instability in the region over the past 3 years.
The steep decline has come after a period of healthy annual growth between 2005 and 2010, averaging 8%, resulting in serious economic consequences, particularly in countries where tourism is a strategic sector. According to research, the tourism sector accounted for 3.8 million direct jobs in the SEMCs (7% of total jobs), and 8.5 million indirect jobs (15% of total jobs).
Consequently, it is our duty to discuss and develop a strategy to help Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Countries to re-gain the tourists that they lost to instability, especially from Europe. As stability returns, this task will become easier, and will offer opportunities for investment and sustainable growth.

In that connection, CCIA-BML will propose The Beirut Decla-ration on the Promotion of the Revival of the SEMC Tourism Industry, for discussion and adoption.
Finally, ASCAME and CCIA-BML hope that MEDITOUR 2014 will allow participants to learn about the trends that are shap-ing the Mediterranean tourism industry, and gain specific, in-depth knowledge and experience. As you can see in the program below, the Forum is filled with topics and activities that are relevant to the Mediterranean tourism industry and connected to its present and future needs.

Special Edition on green cities VI Meda City 27th November
16.00 Future Mediterranean Cities: New energies for sustainability
18.00 Conclusions and closings remarks
Modern cities around the world consume over half of the glo-bal electricity output, and – with the tendency towards urban-ization marching forward year on year – this trend is set to continue, putting further pressure on electricity supplies and security. Innovative, adaptable technologies and solutions for secure and versatile renewable energy generation exist how-ever, and the challenge facing researchers, urban-planners and policy makers is how to scale-up successful projects and put them at the service of the sustainable development of our cityscapes and urban environments. The Mediterranean, where natural resources abound, is uniquely placed to posi-tion itself at the forefront of this innovative approach.
This “Special Edition” session of the MEDACITY Forum, in the framework of the ECO MEDA GREEN SUMMIT, will explore the integration of technologies for renewable energy generation into Mediterranean urban environments, reflect-ing on the challenges, opportunities and impacts for the re-gion’s cities in terms of infrastructure, economics and image.

Eco Meda Green Summit27th-28th of November 2014
The unplanned divergence between the raising Arabic region and failing Europe is mapping an uncertain landscape that complicates the pro-motion of a shared sustainable development. How to speak about environmental protection when people are just demand-ing jobs and basic social rights, by any means necessary?
However, another order could emerge from chaos. There is indeed a narrow window of opportunity to create a common sustainable path between the south and the north of the Medi-terranean that values natural resources, economic develop-ment and social cohesion at the same level. The so-called green economy, or sometimes blue economy when applied to the unique Mediterranean ecosystem, would be again the main topic to be discussed during this Global Eco Forum 2014, an international meeting place for decision makers, opinion leaders and change agents, organized annually by the envi-ronmental association eco-union.
The 2014 Global Eco Forum which celebrates its 7th edition will have a specific focus in water, green energy and green job, as core factors for the sustainable development of the Mediterranean.

Mediterranean Forum for Economic Intelligence
28th November
The Mediterranean and its adjacent seas (Black, Red, Caspian) constitute a progressive integration economic zone, although it is not always obvious. Special attention from all the economic stakeholders should be paid to the environment and energy sectors due to their strategic nature at a regional and global level
In contexts where the complexity is high and the uncertainty is common, the Competitive and Economic Intelligence tools contribute to improve the competitiveness of the organizations and enterprises through the assessment of the context, “offensive” –Preparation towards competitors– as well as “defensive” –preservation of the competitivness–.

The international financial crisis has shown that Islamic ban-king is healthier than most of its conventional peers. This kind of banking moves vast amounts of resources around the world, which can benefit public and private sectors alike and which can attract substantial financial flows to production, in-dustry and tourism. Therefore Islamic Finance represent one of the fastest growing sectors within the international financial system.

WELCOME TO CASA LLOTJA dE MAR
Casa Llotja de Mar will host the 8th Mediterranean Week of Economic
Leaders
Casa Llotja is located on the sea front in the historical centre of Barcelona,
is one of the most significant and splendid monuments representing the
economy and culture of the city. It was built in the second-half of the 14th
century, the most brilliant period of Catalan Gothic.
The present neoclassical building was constructed in the 18th century on top
of the old medieval building. The antagonism of styles makes Casa Llotja a
historical and artistic monument of immense architectural interest, to which
is added the incalculable artistic value of its halls and rooms, decorated
and enriched mainly with 18th and 19th century sculptures and paintings by
students and professors of the Academy of Fine Arts.
Its wide variety of rooms makes it the perfect place for hosting all man-
ner of different business events with excellence and singularity as the
main references: presentations, lunches and gala dinners, conferences,
advertising campaigns, fashion shows, concerts, receptions, press confe-
rences, etc.
