I am presenting the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy Annual Report for
2013. I know you will find the report interesting. This academic year donor support has been
impressive for student scholarships, faculty and facility improvements. We are very grateful to
the Auburn Family for their support in our pursuit of excellence.
Twenty-four alumni, friends, corporation and foundations are recognized for reaching
Apothecary Society level (donating $10,000 or more), five White Coat Society ($5,000-
$9,999), eight Preceptor’s Circle ($3,000-$4,999), 66 Prescription Club ($1,200-$2,999),
and 435 Mortar & Pestle Club (up to $1,199). The school’s endowments that support student
scholarships, funds for excellence, and professorships are now valued at more than $7 million.
Seven hundred-seventy two alumni and friends gave to the Annual Fund via the fiscal year
2013 mail and phonathon campaigns. The Auburn Family appreciates the support from those
that have in their hearts to give back.
Faculty have been productive this year with 78 publications in peer reviewed journals
and attracting $2.9 million in extramurally funded grant and contracts. Additionally many
have received recognitions for their work in instruction, research and leadership. Examples
of the honors awarded include Jack DeRuiter, Teacher of the Year; Kimberly Braxton-Lloyd,
Alumnus of the Year Award; Forrest Smith, Hargreaves Faculty Mentor Award; and Heather
Whitley, Rural Health Heroes Award.
Certainly our student pharmacists provide the joy for all of us, especially those of us who
get to watch them mature into wonderful professionals. The almost 600 student pharmacists
that are part of this program are grateful to alumni, preceptors, friends, and faculty who
contribute in many ways to their education and development.

DEVELOPMENT/ALUMNI AFFAIRS
The support of the hundreds of alumni and friends listed in this annual report make it possible for the
Harrison School of Pharmacy to provide student scholarships and faculty professorships, improve facilities and
equipment, and underwrite faculty and graduate student research. The Office of Development & Alumni Affairs
cannot properly express the immense gratitude felt towards these contributors.
Preparing our students to assume various roles in the ever-changing health care industry is dependent on
having the proper financial resources. Many of our students carry a financial burden and the debt load they
acquire could compromise their future after graduation. The Harrison School of Pharmacy and our student
pharmacists rely on the private giving of these alumni and friends to continue maintaining our programs and the
quality education our students receive.
The Office of Development & Alumni Affairs exists to offer these alumni and friends the opportunity to give
back and connect in a meaningful way to the Harrison School of Pharmacy and Auburn University. Giving back
in a way such as an endowed gift provides scholarships in various areas within the school for generations to come.
These areas include, but are not limited to, student pharmacists, research projects, and professorships. Other
opportunities, such as the Wall of Honor, serve as a lasting way to support the school.
The Harrison School of Pharmacy hosts a number of events such as tailgates and an annual golf tournament
as a way to give back to our alumni and friends. We strive to make the Harrison School of Pharmacy and Auburn
University a place they feel at home.
Thank you and War Eagle!
