• Historically, there is a history of public rioting in London. It happened in 1981, 1985 and 1995.
• It happened again in the summer of 2011.• A huge amount of damage was done in each set of
riots.• People were shocked at the violence, and lives were
endangered or even lost each time.• Public reports were written into the riots, exploring

How did the government attempt to address the problems of rioting?
Scenario
There appears to be strong public reaction against rioting and demands for strong penalties for those caught offending.
I’ve been caught taking part in a riot, and have been told that my future career will be affected by a crime
conviction. My family are devastated. How will they be able to face their wealthy circle of friends?
