WHAT IS AN EARTHQUAKE?

Is the sudden movement of the Earth, caused by the sudden release of stored energy for a long time.

HYPOCENTER AND EPICENTER

Also, where it originates, in an earthquake are two points: the hypocenter and epicenter. The first is the point inside the earth's crust where the earthquake originates and can be superficial (if it occurs less than 70 km depth), intermediate (between 70 and 300 km depth) and deep (to a depth of more than 300 km). While the epicenter is the point on the Earth's surface where the earthquake is more intense (perpendicular to the hypocenter).

Is an arbitrary logarithmic scale assigns a number to quantify the energy released in an earthquake.

Be prepared for aftershocks.

Don´t: Use elevators, entry in damaged buildings.

Ckeck yourself and others forinjuries, water and electricallines for damages.

And control fires wich may spread.

If you leave home, leave a message telling friends and family your location.
