Taking Care of your Digital Devices

and Get the Most Out of Your Digital Devices

How Can You Best Protect Your Laptop?

KEEP IT PROTECTED

Soft case/Neoprene CoverThere are many options on Amazon.jp or in stores in Kansai!

KEEP IT UPDATED

Go to Software Update

Then...Restart Computer

(sometimes it does this automatically, sometimes not)

DO THIS NOW

WORD NEEDS TO BE UPDATED WITHIN THE SOFTWARE!!!

Open any Microsoft Office Application

(Word, Powerpoint, Excel)

DO THIS NOW!

KEEP IT RESTED &

ENERGIZED

RESTART (AT LEAST) WEEKLY

CHARGE EVERY NIGHT

KEEP IT CLEAN

1. Make sure computer is shut down.

2. Use a damp (not dripping) lint-free cloth.

3. Clean keyboard and between keys (use

cotton swab if necessary)

4. Wipe down screen.

5. If using hard case, take off and wipe down

outside of machine.

Backup Suggestions1. Google Drive - what is this a good backup solution for? What are the pros

and cons of backing up through google drive?

2. Dropbox - why would you choose to use this? What are the pros and cons of using Dropbox for your back-up?

3. Apple Time Machine (or other PC backup Software) and external hard drive - what/who is this a good solution for? What are the pros and cons for using time machine and a hard drive?

You should be using Google Drive or Dropbox

to save ALL of your school work.

A crashed computer is no excuse to not have your work and the chance of losing your work is not worth it!

There should be little/no files on your desktop.

Keep your work saved on a Cloud-based File System

(Like Google Drive or Dropbox)

Make sure every file has a clear, concise name & is in a folder

Get rid of unnecessary files from hard drive & Google Drive.Please make sure you do NOT mass delete and the files are not connected to your blog/Mission Portfolio.

Clean out your email.

Organize your bookmarks.

Keep your phones clean too!

Take photos off of your phone regularly.

Go to Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage

Be KNOWLEDGEABLE of your digital devices.

Keep them clean, organized and functioning well.
