NEW DELHI, Feb 19:

Cabinet Secretary Ajit Sethtoday urged state Governmentsto ensure round-the-clock func-tioning of outbreak monitoringcells and necessary helplines asthe number of people affectedby swine flu in the countrycrossed the 10,000 mark.

Seth, while chairing a meetingof the National CrisisManagement Committee toreview the swine flu outbreak inthe country, also directed drugcontrollers of states to ensureavailability of necessary vaccines,along with guidelines for vaccina-tion and treatment protocol.

"The Cabinet Secretarystressed that the states shouldensure that the outbreak monitor-ing cells and necessary helplinesfunction round-the-clock. TheDrug Controllers should ensureavailability of necessary medi-cines such as tablets, capsules andvaccines, along with guidelinesfor vaccination and treatment pro-tocol," the Union Health Ministrysaid in a statement.

Till yesterday, as many as663 swine flu deaths had beenreported from across the countrywhile the number of people

affected by it crossed the 10,000mark even as the virus spread tonew places like Nagaland.(PTI)
