Growing budget pressures and the imminent defense cuts areforcing both industry and Department of Defense (DoD)organizations to re-evaluate their approach to weapon systemproduct support.
The DoD currently spends roughly $132 billion, or nearly 20% ofits annual budget, on product support. As organizations areasked to “do more with less” that number is expected to rapidlyincrease and consume an even greater percentage of the defensebudget. Drawing on the practical nature of hands-onexperience, this workshop will provide perspectives from industryand DoD on tackling this affordability challenge.
From industry, the workshop will discuss the different industrialbase strategies on affordability and the underlying opportunitiesand challenges. From the DoD perspective, we will discuss howthe new Business Case Analysis requirements, Life-CycleSustainment Plan (LCSP) development and considerations, advantages of the Product Support Business Model, and theOperating and Support Cost reality are being realized - withindustry and organizational case studies.
Join PwC in this workshop and discuss how to drive downweapon system product support costs and improve overallreadiness. Program offices, OEMs and product support providersare encouraged to join, but all are welcome for this half dayevent.

3:40 Advanced Systematic Approach For PrognosticRealization Across Army Platforms
Dr. Canh LyPrincipal Research InvestigatorUnited States Army Research Laboratory
Currently, diagnostic and prognostic development is primarily based ona trial-and-error approach for specific applications. It lacks a system-wide methodology that would enable rapid development andvalidation. What is needed is a system-wide approach that provides adeveloped “toolbox” of algorithms that are ready to be deployed andapplicable to multiple challenges.
This presentation will describe an advanced systematic methodologyfor developing prognostic and health management solutions byhighlighting a set of algorithms used for feature extraction, machinehealth assessment and health prediction. This overall approach can bedemonstrated in select case studies across multiple U.S. Armyplatforms including aviation, ground vehicles and weapon stations.

3. DMS has a dedicated audience development teamwhose sole focus is to get the right marketattendees to the conference and protect ourbuy/seller ratio
4. Each sponsor is hand held through their contractand can take advantage of DMS’s dedicatedmarketing resource to ensure they meet theirtop prospects onsite

Because at Defense Maintenance & Sustainment, 2’s company and 3’s definitely not a crowd! Here are just a few of the many reasons why attending with your team is beneficial:
You’re good, but not that good! There are so many content packed sessions at this conference that it’simpossible for one person to gather all of the great takeaways and nuggets of information. Also, with 2separate tracks you can not be in 2 places at once!

It’s proven: you learn better in groups. At the end of the day, at the cocktail receptions, you can regroupand sift through all the information each of you has gathered. You can brainstorm and bounce ideas off eachother, and start shortlisting the best ideas right there and then.
With over 200 Program Managers, Maintainers, and System Engineers in attendance, you can’tnetwork with everyone. With a group attending from your company, you’re much more likely to meet upwith the key people that you want to connect with and evaluate the most productive tools and practices thatyou are interested in.
It’s just more fun being part of a team! You know the feeling when you’re the new person in the office,or the only one at a networking event? Well, if you have a colleague there you won’t be lonely! You’ll havesomeone there who knows your program, understands your challenges and is on the same page as you.Invaluable.
