Member News
We’ve had a busy few months at Quinte First, with lots happening in
our branches and in the community!
We had an awesome turnout at all of our member appreciation days
in September. We had music and food, and it was great to see all
our members out having fun and sharing in the celebrations.
We had a wonderful turnout at our kids Halloween party in
Frankford on October 28th. Thanks to all the volunteers and to
everyone who came out to enjoy the day! There was lots of fun had
by all! We had free refreshments, games, crafts, music, a costume
contest and free pumpkins for all the kids!
Our HWY 2 branch did an amazing job raising funds for the Banker’s Buy a Bed Race in September.
They held bake sales, and auctioned off chances to throw a pie at Gino! Although they didn’t win the
race- they were all winners in the end, raising over $1,600 dollars to buy new hospital beds at
Trenton Memorial Hospital!
Our staff really went all out for Halloween! From Snow White and the Seven Dwarves at North Front
Street to the cast of Grease in Frankford- everyone looked amazing!
Quinte First held the first annual “Bands Together” fundraiser in Stirling on November 18th. There was
awesome live music from Derek Arsenault, Deb O’Connor and Rob Waite. Thanks to everyone who
came out to support a great local cause- we raised over $500 for the Stirling Splash Pad Fund!

Did you know that credit unions created the first full-service ATM’s?
That’s the credit union difference!
Credit Unions are financial co-operatives. That means that the people who choose
to bank with Quinte First Credit Union are the same people who own the credit
union! The people who do their banking with us every day and sit on our Board of
Directors are one and the same, and that means we always put the needs of our
members first.
Credit unions put people before profit and we keep your money in the local
economy. Whether it’s through lending to home owners or small businesses, or
providing financial literacy education to youth in our community; we strive to
make decisions in the best interests of our members and our community. That’s the
credit union difference, and that’s the Quinte First difference.
Community Connections__ Quinte First was pleased to be a sponsor of the Savour Bay of Quinte Food and Drink Festival event once again
this year. It was a great evening celebrating the local tastes of Quinte, with local chefs and locally sourced
ingredients. Quinte First was also proud to be a returning sponsor of the annual Quinte Immigration Services
children’s Christmas party. It was a wonderful evening to welcome families that are new to Canada; full of food,
fun, gifts and a visit from Santa. Our staff volunteers had a great time helping out at the party, and loved seeing
the joy and excitement of all the kids! We were also pleased to be sponsor of the Quinte Business Acheivement
Awards on October 20, where Kim Lee spoke about Quinte First, and Scott Lafleur presented an award for Best
Agribusiness to Pasta Tavola. As Quinte’s only local financial institution we are committed to helping support
our community, and to helping causes that are important to our members, staff. We value your feedback, and
would love to hear about local causes that are important to you.
Financial Literacy_____________________
Quinte First is committed to helping improve financial confidence and skills in our community. This year we
have delivered over 45 free adult and young adult financial literacy workshops in our community. We’ve been
fortunate to partner with libraries in Belleville and Quinte West, as well as seven different community
organizations to offer a wide variety of workshops. Our workshops are not branded, and there are never any
sales pitches- we believe that sharing our financial knowledge with our community results in a stronger local
economy. Quinte First is also proud to have visited 12 local schools this year and given over 50 workshops to
students on financial literacy and the co-operative business model. For more information on our free
Financial Literacy Workshops, or book a workshop for your school or community organization,
contact Michelle Christmann at 613-966-4111 ext. 268 or via email at mchristmann@quintefirst.ca

Quinte First Helpful Hint’s__
Did you know Quinte First has a free mobile banking app that you can download on your mobile device? For
more information visit our website or talk to a staff member at your nearest branch. Have you used one of our
new ATM machines recently installed at our RCAF and Sidney Street branches? They are envelope free and have
added security features to help keep you safer and more secure! We are always looking for ways to improve
service and give our members a better banking experience.
If you have a helpful hint you would like to share, please submit it via email to Michelle
Christmann at mchristmann@quintefirst.ca or drop it off in person at your nearest branch.
Moneypalooza Quinte First Credit Union was so proud to help organize the very first “Moneypalooza”
event this year at Quinte Secondary School on November 14th. It was a full day of financial literacy workshops for
Grade 11 and 12 students. We were fortunate to have some local businesses like Newman Insurance and Y Buy Nu
Auto Sales come out for the day and talk to students about important life skills like how to buy your first car, how
to choose insurance that’s right for you, and how to get the best rates. We were also joined by the CRA, who spoke
to students about why and how to file your taxes. Quinte First staff also presented some valuable workshops on
credit cards, budgeting, shopping smart and basic financial literacy. It was a great way to prepare students for some
of the big financial decisions coming up in their lives, and help get them started on the path to financial success!
