Flour and water experiments

Question

If you mix flour and water together, is it liquidy or does it bubble?

Hypotheses My hypotheses are: -  None of the mixtures will bubble -  Some of the mixtures will be liquidy and some won’t

depending on how much water I add.

Experiments

Three experiments with different amounts of flour and water

Experiment Flour Water

Experiment 1 1 cup 3 cups

Experiment 2 ½ cup 2 cups

Experiment 3 ½ cup ¼ cup

Experimental protocol

Materials: -  Flour -  Water -  3 bowls -  Spoon -  Measuring cup

Method:  Measure  flour  and  water.  Add  flour  and  water  together  and  mix  with  spoon.

Experiment 1

It got a little bubbly and really liquidy.

There was a tiny bit of bubbles and it was pretty liquidy.

Experiment 3

It got kind of doughy and there were no bubbles. It was like play-dough.

Conclusions

•  The mixture did bubble a little. My first hypothesis was not correct.

•  Two of them were pretty liquidy and the other was doughy. It did depend on how much water I added. If I added more water it was more liquidy. My second hypothesis was correct.

Conclusion

Sometimes experiments can be really fun and

sticky!
