From the Principal’s Desk
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would first of all like to congratulate all of our students who have repre-
sented our school in a number of activities these past two weeks.
Congratulations to our Performance Dance group who have
successfully auditioned for the ‘Our Spectacular’ showcase
and will perform at the Sydney Opera House next term.
Our two debating teams who competed against each other. All our teams performed
magnificently and many of our classes were able to watch with close interest.
Congratulations all of our Zone Cross Country runners who competed at the Zone Carni-
val. A special congratulations to Michael (2/3S) and Madison (4G) who are now competing
at the upcoming Regional Carnival. Good luck!!
There have been a number of new staffing appointments of which we’d like to inform you of.
Congratulations to Mrs Ozturk who has successfully been permanently appointed to our
school. Mrs Ozturk is a magnificent teacher and we are very pleased for her!
Mrs Antala will be joining us next term after being successful in the interview process.
Mrs Antala brings strong expertise in technology skills and experience. She will commence
next term.
Yesterday, we had a great turn out to our first ‘Coffee and Chat with the Principal’ Morning Tea.
Miss Twarloh presented more information about how we use Seesaw. Following this, I spoke to
parents and carers about school matters of interest and any other questions they had. This was
the first of regular morning teas we plan to run under the support of our P&C Association.
Coming up in Week 10, students will receive their Semester School Report. As there is a Stage 2
Camp, we will hand out all Reports on Wednesday 4 July (Wk.10).
With our reports, the benchmark levels we strive towards is Sound Achievement. It is defined as
‘The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of the main areas of content and has
achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills’. I would like to assure all
parents and carers that students who receive this mark are at expected benchmark levels. There
will also be students who are achieving under this or above this level. Further clarification can be
sought through your class teacher. As Principal, I look closely at the ‘Effort’ students place into
their school work. We are continually encouraging students to do their best. The back page also
gives you a nice snapshot of their engagement in ‘school life’.
In the next two weeks our Stage 2 and 3 students will be attending the following camps:
Week 9 – Years 5 and 6 – Canberra and the Snowy Mountains
Week 10 – Years 3 and 4 – Taronga Zoo – ZooSnooZ

We have been learning about
expressive forms of artworks and
applying this to our art. Students
make artworks representing both real
and imagined situations, exploring a
range of techniques and media. They
discuss qualities of artworks such as
subject matter and technique,
recognising that artists create
artworks for different audiences.

school community to view and use. Search for ‘Ringrose Public School's Parents Page’ and ask to join. If you have trouble joining, let us know through the P & C box in the office and we can add you. It’s a great place to ask for information from other parents and just to keep in touch. It’s a really positive online community and we’d love to see more parents using it.
Coming to the disco this week? If you’re hanging around waiting while the kids have all the fun, why not put your hand up to do a 15 minute shift in the canteen? Come and see us at the door on the night, or pop your name into our P & C box in the office and let us know you want to help.
Your P & C have recently applied for a Community Building Partnership Grant from the NSW government, and we are really hoping it is successful! We have asked for funding to refurbish our hall – this will include air conditioning (no more stifling assemblies!), new stage curtains (ours are ripped beyond use), and a new sound system (we are all aware of the problems with the one we have, the speakers and cabling are from the 1960s). We won’t find out the result of this application until November/December 2018, but we will keep you all updated.
Remember, we are here to listen and help, so please use our Communication box in the office to get in touch with us.
