Linkages – What?

• Groundwater Monitoring Committees (GMCs) & Hydrological Unit Networks (HUNs) are broadly linked with 3 agencies– With Government departments– With Peoples elected representatives– With Marketing agencies

• Farmer-officers workshops conducted• Exposure visits & interface meetings

organized

Why with Government departments?

• To mobilize programs related to water & agriculture like:

– Subsidized water saving devices (drip, sprinklers etc.)

– Rotary weeders – Subsidized wormy-compost units– Subsided seeds and fertilizers– Horticulture development programs

Why with peoples representatives?

• Influence the local government to avail subsided benefits

• Influence the water policies in favor of groundwater users

• Inclusion of new schemes at HU level and basin level

• Mobilize various schemes related to water & agriculture

Why with marketing agencies?

• Assured marketing facilities for member farmer produces

• Bargaining for better prices • Branding as water saved produces• Strengthen unity among groundwater user

farmers• Creating common fund to take forward

demand side management of Groundwater• For sustainability of PHM activities

Mobilizing funds – How?• Funds needed for replication and

sustainability of PHM concept• Tapping programs from local government• Mobilizing funds/resources from State &

National governments• Mobilize funds & support from bilateral &

multilateral agencies• Mobilize funds & support from

International development / donor agencies

Up-scaling• Skills & capacities of existing peoples

networks on demand side management of groundwater

• Replicate/disseminate PHM concept to other draught prone areas of the state

• Replicate PHM concept to other states of the country

• Extend technical support to other countries of the globe on request

Good luck

&

Thank you all
