(6’) viewfinder.

This structure was designed to capture a view of decaying urban fabric and the material culture of the city in downtown Geneva, NY. Angled mirrors, positioned glass, and a grid of wood “frame” trash canisters, metal, vandalism and other aspects of the built environment that we try not to see. My viewfinder forces the user to engage with a city in process.

bridge of flight.

This project was inspired by an image of flight patterns in the U.S. Initially, I worked in drawing, then moved to chipboard models, held together by tensile string without the use of adhesives. The final model was rendered in plexi-glass, tensile string, and rivets. Final model is approximately 8”x8”x8”.

This is a site specific structure designed to sit along a trail at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. After evaluating the site, I determined there were certain aspects of it that I wanted to feature. Most important of those were the three trees blocking the trail; this became the inspiration for my structure. I also designed it to cascade rain down like the stream bed on my site. Lastly, I wanted to create framed views out the front and back of the structure.
