Calling – A vision of how God wants to use

our time, energy, and ability to serve Him in the world (Sittser, 2004)

“A way of seeing the world with the eyes of the heart.” (Sittser, p. 167)

Enhancing students’ desire to learn and promoting lifelong learning

“For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul (Proverbs 2:10).

“A person of understanding delights in wisdom (Proverbs 10:23).

“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. A wise person has great power, and a person of knowledge increases in strength” (Proverbs 24: 3-5).

When I encounter a problem like this, I think about what choices I have.

You are capable of making wise choices.

My job is to open up the door; your job is to walk through the door.

You made good choices today. You must feel good.

“God gave us free will to make choices, and He desires for us to make wise choices.” “God lives within us to provide us with the wisdom and strength to make wise choices.”

I love when I can tell that I’m improving.

I can tell you’re improving!

Your effort is helping you to improve.

You’re getting smarter every day!

“That the person of God may be equipped for every good work” 2 Timothy 3:17

That makes me wonder….

You are asking some really good questions.

See if you can find out the answers to your questions.

I can tell you really want to learn and understand.

“The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.” Psalm 65: 8

“I’m curious to see what God has in store for us today.”

“God gave you a mind to think and ask questions and to figure out life.”

“God made an amazing world; it’s so fun for us to learn more and more about His creation.”

I find things are more fun if they are somewhat challenging.

This is challenging, but it’s doable.

You’ll need your best effort to succeed at this challenge.

You did it. You kept trying and you did it.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” Colossians 3:23

“Try what’s hard and see how God can help. God gives you the power to learn.”

It feels great to be a part of our class.

We are a family/team/community. We share, learn, and grow together

If we work together, we can solve any problems that may come up.

This is a great example of what makes our classroom such a wonderful place to learn.

“God created us to live in community. We are here by Divine appointment. We are brothers and sisters in Christ.”

“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity.” (Psalm 133:1)

Do this if you want an “A.”

Listen, because this material will be on the test.

I am so proud of you.

Work hard, so you don’t have to stay in at recess.

Look at the chart to see how you did in

comparison to others.

The first one to finish wins a prize.
