AND … That’s a wrap!
With the quickly approaching DCON only hours away, my official formal retirement is also here! It really
has been just a run for me, and I truly cannot thank everybody enough for making my 2012-2013 such a
wave. From splashing my term with many memories to take away, I truly am so gratefully humbled and
honored to have served you all as your Division 41 South Lieutenant Governor.
Coming into the term, I didn’t realize how much our division could accomplish in so little time! Over the
course of 11 months—one month shorter than it normally would be—Division 41 South’s den of over 500
lions volunteered 6,625 hours of service and raised $3,119 for charity!! I cannot be any more proud, and I
am truly at a lass of words in regards to congratulating and acknowledging all the hard work each and
every Lion put out. Do come to our end of the year banquet, however, in order to see which club is the
winner in regards to “most hours served” and “most funds raised for service!”
But aside from the service you do for others, Division 41 South really knows the concept of Ohana in
respect to our Region 03 Family; as the southern-most division of Region 03, I really want to thank all
drivers for making the trek up to region events—from OTC to RTC and even our many socials, such as
Division 04’s dances! Besides other division functions, however, I truly want to thank all who came out to
each and every one of our own Division 41 South gatherings—whether you were only able to attend
one or whether you were that one in every single photo taken, the support is much loved and
appreciated! Even if you aren’t a Lion (which I have to say is rather unfortunate), you will always be
welcomed into our den as an Honorary Lion with a Heart of Gold. From DCM’s to Annual Events and
Socials, I know I can take out memories from each event; each memory is something I will forever
cherish and carry throughout my life.
Thank you so much for your continued participation, your continued dedication to servicing others, and
your pride in being in Key Club as a Division 41 South Lion. I too hope that this 2012-2013 term is one to
remember, as we have set the bar for the 2013-2014 term, to be led by Division 41 South Lieutenant
Governor Elect Joseph Olmo. His term will be fantabulous, and we all have to be there to support him as
you all have supported me!
But before the sappy passing of the torch, I want to thank the 2012-2013 leadership: from the Division
Leadership Team to the Division Executive Board … my sanity wouldn’t be without them all, and
especially of my life management, it really wouldn’t be without our Division Newsletter Editor Anhthy
Tong! She really is our unsung hero in meticulously stitching together each and every BEEautiful
Newsletter, grabbing those angles for those brilliant shots, and working so hard in really propelling the
Division into new heights. We really don’t thank her enough; and shy enough as she is, we all need to
find her and grant her High Tens for being super awesome and always so passionate about her work.
Let us give a YIP-YIP to Anhthy as she compiles her last Newsletter!
But no really, thanks to everybody again for such a great run … We’ve really finished out so strong!

Hannah Tuong

Niguel Hills Orchestra’s Solo and
Ensemble Dessert Concert
On Friday, March 8, DHHS Key Club
volunteered at the Niguel Hills Middle
School, helping out with the Niguel Hills
Orchestra’s Solo & Ensemble Dessert
concert. Our volunteers served a
delicious assortment of donated
desserts to a crowd of over 100
parents and students that came to
support the Orchestra. Throughout the
night, many students and small
ensembles performed their favorite
classical or contemporary songs; some
even arranged versions of modern
songs by artists like Taylor Swift. While
the performers played, our volunteers
served and finished the night by
assisting in the raffle and finally
cleaning up the theatre.

On March 1st, CVHS Key Clubbers got
up early in the morning to host a
charity garage sale. At the break of
dawn, Key Clubbers set up an
organized display of all the donated
items from members in Key Club.
Items ranged from clothes to board
games, furniture to strollers, and
electronics to accessories; Key Club’s
garage sale had it all. During
moments where there were no
buyers, Key Clubbers utilized the free
time to play football, dance, and
socialize. Not only was the event a
great fundraiser, but also was an
amazing bonding experience for
members. As buyers strolled in, Key
Clubbers welcomed them, explained
the purpose of the garage sale, and

Clubbers welcomed them, explained

were excellent salesmen. As a result
of their efforts, the garage sale was a
success, earning $160.00 for Project
Eliminate.

Multicultural Fair, each participating
club represents one country of their
choice by preparing delicious
traditional foods and decorating their
booth with fun facts about their
respective countries. It has become a
yearly tradition for Key Club to represent
the country of Taiwan, serving delicious
orange chicken and milk tea boba to
hungry attendees, and this year was no
different. In addition to serving

Overall, it was a great event, in which
the froggy Christopher Te from D41N
won! Future events for Laguna Hills
are the annual Easter Egg Hunt at
Gallup Park and Easter egg baskets
for the families at Camp Pendleton.
Mr. Key Club Pageant
On February 18th, D41S hosted the
annual Mr. Key Club Pageant.
Jasmine helped out by MC-ing the
event with Brittany from El Toro High
School. Emmeline Ngo also came out
to show her support and help with
the set-up before the event started.

This past Sunday on March 11, Key Club
41 South serviced Buena Park’s annual
Coaster Run held at Knott’s Berry Farm!
The runners chose between a 5K and
10K and ran them at their own pace
marked by eight waves of runners of
varying speeds. Members of Laguna
Hills Key Club showed up at the crack of
dawn and serviced until mid-day with a
myriad of tasks. These ranged from
holding up signs marked with wave
numbers, to monitoring the finish line, to
even cheering on the runners in Camp
Snoopy! Most can agree that the most
exciting part of the run was seeing the
cheery faces of the little kids as they ran

continued clean up even after the
majority of the volunteers had left.

Surprisingly, I got awarded “Crowd
Favorite,” something I would not
expect myself to win. I’m very glad
that I participated this year.

Being part of this pageant was an
honor to represent my club and
division. It was also exciting to meet
the other candidates and key
clubbers from other divisions.

I enjoyed collecting Easter supplies at
the local Ralphs. The supplies we
collected were made into Easter
baskets to support military families
who fall under the poverty line. A
cool thing which happened at the
event was that we were stationed
right next to the girl scouts, not
everyone wanted to buy the girl
school cookies but were willing to
donate to the marines! One ex-
marine donated 30 boxes of cookies!

My tenth and last issue. Dang. I can’t
believe it. I guess you could say that I
improved a lot over the few months.
My first few issues were nasty. Anyway,
thank you to all who have viewed
each of my issues! I really appreciate
it. I also really and truly appreciate all
of the officers and members who have
sent in articles and visuals every
month, or almost every month. I hope
you all enjoyed the ’12-’13 term with
your fabulous leadership team and
division board. It’s time to step down
and move on with our lives. I will
always cherish the memories I’ve
made as well as the new friends I’ve
been privileged to get to know. Good
luck with your AP tests and try to get
enough sleep! Eat breakfast. And
thank you for this acceptable term!
