COASTAL SAVANNAH WRITING PROJECT’s GOALS:1)making all teachers confident as writers and teachers of writers;2)improving the teaching of writing;3) implementing writing as a learning tool across the curriculum;4)delivering customized in-service programs for local schools and teachers; and5)providing continuing education and research opportunities for teachers.

1) SUMMER INSTITUTE in WRITINGThe Summer Institute brings together experienced teachers from across the Savannah & Coastal counties, in all grade levels and all disciplines, for four weeks of writing, research, and practice.
• Teacher as WRITER• Teacher as RESEARCHER OF WRITING STRATEGIES• Teacher as TEACHER (OF TEACHERS)
2) PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT• delivered by the Project Leadership Team and trained TEACHER-CONSULTANTS• WORKSHOPS, IN-SERVICE, CONFERENCES, COACHING
3) CONTINUITY• continued training and support for S.I. Fellows• INQUIRY, BOOK CLUBS, WRITING GROUPS
