This event has been moved back one week due to weather issues!
Calling all Female Students....Check Out Tech! Learn how to get into the technology field, even with a different major!
Come to network with Professional Women in the Computer/Information Technology profession to get a better
understanding of what a career in IT is like and how you might consider a career in the technology field. Temple's CIS
department has partnered with the NWCT (National Women in Computing Technology) to provide this event.
Besides being a networking opportunity, we will be raffling-off an IPad and gift cards.
Nationally, only 18% of students graduating from Computer and Information Science programs are female. The job market continues to explode, and getting more females into this exciting, creative and innovative career path is critically important. This is the fastest growing area in STEM and the one with the fewest females. Companies are clamoring to get more talented females hired. There are opportunities for you - and it is not always a traditional path to get to them!

Job Description: The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute is an interdisciplinary institution
dedicated to conducting basic, clinical and translational research on conditions and diseases
that affect children, and is part of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and University of
Pennsylvania research community.
A Research Technician II position is available in the Oncology Research Division working
with Dr. Stephen Grupp.
Our laboratory does translational research aimed at developing new treatments for pediatric
leukemia. We focus on studying new agents including cellular therapies in vitro and in
mouse models, and then moving them into clinical trials. The primary responsibility will
center around mouse studies, and thus experience in murine research is preferred and
willingness to work on mice is required. Desirable areas of experience include flow
cytometry, DNA and RNA isolation, immunoblotting, cell culture techniques, and
management of mouse studies which includes drug administration. If desired, there is
opportunity to take primary responsibility for on-going or newly developed projects with
the opportunity to publish findings. Ability to work well with others in this large laboratory
setting is a must.

8.PULSE Program of Cooper Medical School – Summer Program – Deadline 2/13 The PULSE Program of Cooper Medical School will be providing an info session at Temple and we invite you to attend. The info session will take place on Wednesday, February 4th at 3pm in 1810 Liacouras Walk, Suite 101. PULSE is a six week academic enrichment program for college undergraduates interested in healthcare professions. The program provides academic, clinical, research and service learning opportunities with a focus on urban health needs. Developed by Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU), the PULSE program help students become lifelong learners and empower them to use their knowledge to make a difference in their communities. The primary goal of PULSE is to provide exposure to medical professions to those groups traditionally under-represented in the field, as well as those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
Admission Process Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
One year of college (completed by start of program) One semester of biology One semester of math One semester of expository writing or college composition GPA of at least 3.0
Explore careers, gain clinical skills, and broaden your knowledge of medicine, science and technology this summer at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University’s 2015 Premedical Urban Leadership Summer Enrichment (PULSE) Program. PULSE offers academic, clinical, research and service learning opportunities focused on urban medicine. It’s free, competitive, and pays a small stipend.

Students from urban areas and/or financially disadvantaged backgrounds will receive special consideration. PULSE runs five full days per week for six weeks. College credit is not offered for PULSE, but the educational enrichment and experiences are invaluable.
Program Outline and Applicant Requirements PULSE offers three phases designed to serve students at all stages of undergraduate education. The curriculum includes course work, seminars, study skills workshops, and exposure to clinical settings. 9.Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Summer 2015 Academic Associates
Program – Deadline 2/4
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is actively seeking qualified participants to apply for our Summer 2015 Academic
Associates program.
The AA program will be offered as a non-credit program for the summer semester of 2015. This program involves
students in clinical research studies in the Emergency Department (ED) at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Hundreds of students have taken part in this program over the past 12 years at the Hospital of Pennsylvania and now
here at Jefferson and found it an excellent way to experience being part of a clinical team in this high acuity healthcare
environment. Many students have become key members of research projects and developed relationships with faculty
that have been a foundation for a career in healthcare.
Students learn the clinical studies and develop the skills to screen potential participants, interview families, and obtain
informed consent where appropriate. Students work closely with ED physicians and nursing staff on a wide range of
studies including multi-center clinical trials, assessments of diagnostic tests and new translational technology.
Requirements for participation will include:
Students will cover TWO 5-6 hour clinical shifts per week and must commit to attending these every
week throughout the semester. Changes must be arranged by the student by switching times with other
students in the program.

Shift times are 7am-12pm, 12pm-6pm, 6pm-12am (Monday-Sunday). You will not be able to alter
the shift times to fit your schedule. Nor are we able to guarantee your shift preference before everyone signs
up.
We will hold 5-7 required meetings during the semester during which we will cover the basics of
research methodology and informed consent, and overview progress on the studies.

10. University of Maryland School of Pharmacy's eight-week, paid summer research
internship program!
Are you an undergrad majoring in biological, chemical, or engineering science and interested in learning
about pharmaceutical research? Apply now
Student interns earn a stipend of $3,500 and partake in cutting-edge research with faculty mentors in the Department of
Pharmaceutical Sciences. Interns are paired with faculty mentors and work in their laboratory. They also participate in
poster sessions, seminars, and social events with current graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to attain a "taste"
of graduate school life.
The deadline to apply is March 30, 2015.
