As we begin the new 2015-2016 school year, The Gateway Family

YMCA—Rahway Branch has a new opportunity to positively impact

every 7th grader in Avenel, Carteret, Colonia, Linden, Rahway and

Winfield Park. We believe that 7th grade is a pivotal time in a young

person’s life. It’s a time where they are given more freedom, more

responsibility and the ability to make more choices on their own.

The YMCA 7th Grade Initiative provides a free membership to every

7th grader as a way to better engage, educate, and connect to our

youth right when they need it most. Not only will this provide 7th

grade students with a safe environment, but it will enable students

to grow in spirit, mind and body.

Initiatives such as the 7th Grade Membership and our ability to

provide financial assistance to those in need are only possible

through the generous donations made to our Annual Support

Campaign. The Rahway Branch has an annual goal to raise $30,000

to help provide these socially responsible programs and services.

To date, we have raised over $23,000 toward this goal. Please

consider helping us reach our goal by making a gift to our Annual

Support Campaign and/or joining us on November 12th, for some

food, fun and fellowship at our “Express to Success” event at the

Rail House Bar located in Rahway. Tickets to this event are on sale

now at the Branch so stop by today and get on board!

YOU MAKE MORE POSSIBLE “A medical condition left me unable to work and out of options. With summer coming, I

knew I did not want my child to sit home all day, but did not know where to turn for

help. The Y offered me financial assistance to send

my daughter to camp and provided my family with a

membership to be able to take steps to become

healthier together. My daughter made new friends,

learned new skills, and had a blast! Our family

enjoyed coming in and swimming in the refreshing

pool in the heat of summer too! I'm so grateful for

their support so I could give my entire family a great

summer experience .” - The Thompson Family
