CROCHETING A PETITE PURSEFeaturing the African Flower pattern

EASY STEPS

Crochet six African Flower motifs―search for free patterns on the Internet. This pattern is also called a Paperweight.

Join as shown on the following slides. Optional: Embellish the lower seams with

shells. Sew on a button closure of to create closure

shown: Make a tassel. Sew the tassel to the center of the purse. Chain 8 inside the center flower (top center

stitches).

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER…

Join 4 motifs as shown with grafting stitch or sew.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER…

1. Join last 2 motifs together.

2. With right sides facing, join side seams with the matching back motifs.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER…

1. Fold bottom motif in half to fit inside the two front motifs.

2. Join to the two front motifs.

3. Double-crochet around edges indicated with the dashes .

4. The Double-crochet edge can be embellished with a shell as shown on purse.

FINISHING TOUCHES…

1. Crochet handle by starting on one side with 4 double crochet stitches. Continue crocheting back and forth for the desired length. Join on the other side.

2. Attach closure .
