Setup

• PCH: – 6 level 3 beds– 42 WTE staff– 6 consultants with regular ICU sessions

• RGH: – 6/7 level 3 beds and 4 level 2 beds– 42 WTE staff– 5 consultants with regular ICU sessions

What have we achieved?

• Increase in the nursing staff at RGH

• Full time Data Clerk at RGH

• Extension of ICNARC to HDU

• Better consultant cover at RGH

What have we achieved?

• Implementation of ICNARC at PCH site

• Weekly consultant cover at PCH

• Developing joint guidelines for procedures and treatments– 24 hr post cardiac arrest bundle

What lies ahead?

• At the moment we are 22 miles apart– With one weak link :)

• Preserve local values and spread good practice across two sites

• Create a joint force at nursing and consultant level

• Establishment of a Critical Care Delivery Group

What lies ahead?

• Review nursing establishment in PCH• Outreach on both sides• More continuous consultant cover at

RGH• Post-ICU follow-up clinic• “attainment of world supremacy within

the next five years” P’s FJ
