Demand Response Program Over View

UMA Participates in the ISO New England Demand Response Program via the DCAM contract facilitated by C-Power

C-Power installed and monitors the required ISO New England electrical meters for the Demand Response Program.

These are three main campus electrical supply meters.

UMA participates in the ISO New England Summer and Winter periods. Bidding in different Demand Reduction Values:

Winter – 1.5 Megawatt

Summer – 1 Megawatt

UMA has assigned an in-house team to develop and implement a Demand Reduction Plan. This in-house team consists of:

Assistant Director Utilities

Central Heating Plant Manager

Campus Energy Engineer

Campus Meter & Control Engineer

UMA Has Developed a Curtailment Plan That:

Identifies Actions to take when Event is Called

Person Responsible to carry out specific action

Back up personnel

Reaction Team contact information

Note: No Emergency Generators used

Normally called to perform the Demand Reduction Plan about two times in winter and summer months. This may change due to new ISO New England Rules pertaining to performance rotation.

UMA received about $90,000 from DCAM this past fiscal year for participating in this program.

This money went into funding energy reduction projects on campus – water filtration skid, steam pipe insulation, and new steam traps.

Because of the new Central Heating Plant onsite electrical generation capabilities UMA additionally participates in the:

1. ISO New England FCM Program

2. DCAM APS Program
