2012 Corinth Youth FootballThis season we had 106 children finish the season with our pro-gram, making this our biggest season in our 17 year history. Wehad: 1 flag team, 2 tackle teams and 2 cheer teams this season. We want to recognize 3 young ladies who participated in our pro-gram, making this the most ladies we have had in C.Y.F. in a sin-gle year. I am so proud of them. This year we had to resize ourprogram by (1/3), we needed to purchase 20 new helmets, 20new shoulder pads, and 61 new pairs of pants for every player. We also bought 21 new cheer uniforms for the cheer team, plusmuch more. The cost of having our youth football program willnow be more expensive due to the Federal Helmet Law that isnow in effect. This year we will have to get rid of 40 helmets atthe end of the season, due to aging out. The good news is, I buynew helmets every year to help keep our inventory up to date, but this will be a costly expense for us next season. We have astrong base of parents who we ask a lot of, we appreciate theirhard work year in and year out. We also have a good communitywho assists our program each year. As the quote says; “Ittakes a community to raise children” and we have always hada solid foundation in Corinth.I want to thank some true friends who have no children in C.Y.F.but who continue to support the program; Steve Clark, for takingtime out of his busy schedule to officiate games with me; SamLucia, Amy Sutliff, Colleen Graska and Alex King & Rose, for sell-ing products and/or just coming in to help. And of course, all mycoaches, especially the ones who have no children here, you allmean a lot to me and the community. And to everyone who pur-chased our products to help support the kids and our program,Thanks So Much!
Sincerely,Dan Lescault Jr. President, C.Y.F.

The New York State Museum will celebrate the Adirondacks andLake Champlain on Saturday, November 3 with “AdirondackDay,” an inaugural daylong event that will complement the Mu-seumʼs exhibition on iconic Adirondack photographer SenecaRay Stoddard. The free event, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will include a concert,
lectures, displays, tours and films presented by the New YorkState Museum and many of the North Countryʼs leading educa-tional and cultural institutions. Participating are the New YorkState Museum, Adirondack Museum, Adirondack Life magazine,Fort Ticonderoga, Great Camp Sagamore, John Brown Lives,Lakes to Locks Passage, Mountain Lake PBS, Paul Smithʼs Col-lege, The Wild Center, and the Trudeau Institute. The highlight of the day will be a 2 p.m. concert by award-win-
ning Adirondack folk musician, educator and story teller DanBerggren. Berggrenʼs roots are firmly in the Adirondacks wherehe was raised, but he has entertained audiences across thecountry and overseas in Belgium, Bulgaria, Romania and CentralAfrica. Hearing stories and songs from local friends and neigh-bors, he has developed a style that captures the spirit of themountains. He has produced 14 albums and has won awardsfrom the NYS Outdoor Education Association, the Association forthe Protection of the Adirondacks, the Adirondack Mountain Cluband SUNY Fredonia.Guided tours will be offered of the Seneca Ray Stoddard: Cap-
turing the Adirondacks exhibition. Stoddardʼs photographs pro-vide a visual record of the history and development of theAdirondacks. His work was instrumental in shaping public opinionabout tourism, leading to the 1892 “Forever Wild” clause in theNew York State Constitution. The exhibition includes over 100 of Stoddardʼs photographs, anAdirondack guideboat, freight boat, camera, copies of Stoddardʼsbooks and several of his paintings. These and other items comefrom the State Museumʼs collection of more than 500 Stoddardprints and also from the collections of the New York State Libraryand the Chapman Historical Museum in Glens Falls. An onlineversion of the exhibition is also available on the State Museumwebsite. The events are presented by the New York State Museum withthe support of sponsors Paul Smithʼs College and StewartʼsShops. Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair.Perhaps you sent a funeral spray, if so we saw it there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say;Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day.
Whatever you did to console our hearts,We thank you so much whatever the part.

Albany, NY (October 15, 2012) –Do you have a love for animals and want to support a great local cause? Join with the Goldstein Auto Group and bring your empty bottles and cans to a Goldstein dealership and support the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society’s “Empties For Animals” campaign helps support the mission of the organization, including sheltering, adoption, education, advocacy and the prevention of cruelty to animals. This year’s goal is to raise $125,000, in honor of the Society’s 125th Anniversary. To reach the goal, the Goldstein Auto Group will need to collect more than 1,500,000 cans and bottles. The 2012 "Empties For Animals” campaign has raised over $73,000 thru Sept. 2012, an increase of $17,638 or 33% over the same period last year. The 2011 campaign raised a total of more than $74,000 and col-lected 925,000 cans and bottles. Volunteers sorted all those bottles and cans, based on the originating distributor, which in turn gener-ated $.08 per can or bottle instead of the regular $.05 redemption
fee paid at stores. Monies from the program were used to benefit the more than 6,500 animals cared for by the Society in 2011. “We are very pleased to continue our partnership with the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and support the 2012 “Empties For Animals” campaign. We would like to thank all of our customers and the members of the community who have generously donated to such a worthy cause,” said Alan Goldstein, President of Goldstein Auto Group.

WARREN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY PROGRAMWednesday, November 14, 2012 - 7:00PM-9:00PM
The Warren County Historical Society will present “Vignettes:The War of 1812 as it Relates to Warren County, NY” in the thirdfloor Community Room of Glens Falls City Hall on Ridge Street.Unlike the French and Indian War and the American Revolution-ary War, Warren County was not the site of a lot of direct actionor battles connected with the War of 1812. Yet it did see someaction, and records show a number of early residents served inthis war - many participating in the Battle of Plattsburgh or servingon the Niagara Frontier. Other War of 1812 veterans receivedland in the county and small pensions in return for their service. Often called “The Forgotten War,” the War of 1812 was huge in
scope, with major battles taking place along rivers and lakes inthe developing American landscape, from Lake Champlain andthe St. Lawrence River to Chesapeake Bay, Detroit and New Or-leans. It began only 20 years after the American colonists wontheir independence battle for independence. This new countrymust have been vulnerable, yet took on Great Britain for a sec-ond time, this time with a strong focus on gaining control over ourdomestic shores, lakes and rivers. “Vignettes” was designed toencourage Warren County Historical Society members and areaamateur historians to explore and discover more about this “For-gotten War.”The program will begin with an overview of the War of 1812 by
Keith Herkalo, Plattsburgh City Clerk, who is a research catalystbehind the archeological rediscovery of the 1812 camp knownas Pikeʼs Cantonment, and author of The Battles of Plattsburgh,September 11, 1814. Following this overview, Dr. Marilyn VanDyke will present three vignettes: one involving her ancestorBenjamin Stark, early Warren County settler and veteran of theWar of 1812; another on the spotted fever affecting soldiers quar-tered on Queensbury, and the story of Betsey Doyle who servedon the Niagara Frontier and later walked across New York Stateto settle in this region. Dr. Stan Cianfarano will present a storyon “Old Ironsides.”This is the last in the 2012 Programs presented by the Warren
County Historical Society. All programs are free and open to thepublic and light refreshments will be served after the presenta-tions.
