Crude oil prices rise on Tuesday
Crude oil prices climbed on Tuesday after a severe disruption to Libyan oil supplies and as officials suggested OPEC and other producing countries could extend an
output-cuts deal to the end of the year.A crude oil trader informed that prices gained as National Oil Corp (NOC), Libya has declared force majeure on crude loadings from
oilfields of Sharara and Wafa, reducing output by 252,000 barrels per day.Prices also gained as Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said that the deal between OPEC and
non-OPEC producers to cut output and reduce the global crude glut is likely to be extended beyond June.WTI Crude Oil (Nymex) for May, rose 1.34 percent to settle at
USD 48.37/barrel. Dated Brent (ICE) for May gained 1.14 percent to USD 51.33/barrel.

1. PP plant taken off-stream by Sinopec Wuhan.
Sinopec Wuhan Petrochemical has shut a PP plant for a maintenance turnaround.
A Polymerupdate source in China informed that the company has halted operations at its plant on March 26, 2016. The plant is expected to remain off-stream 5-10 days.
Located in Hubei province, China, the PP plant has a production capacity of 200,000 mt/year.
2. RIL shuts Hazira cracker for maintenance.
Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has taken off-stream its cracker last weekend.
A Polymerupdate source informed that the company has started maintenance at the cracker on March 24, 2017. The cracker is expected to remain off-line for around 1 month.
Located at Hazira near Surat in Gujarat, the cracker has a production capacity of 1.1 mmt/year.
3. PS plant to be brought on-stream by Hong Kong Petrochemical.
Hong Kong Petrochemical is in plans to restart a polystyrene (PS) plant following a maintenance turnaround this week.
A Polymerupdate source in Hong Kong informed that the plant is likely to resume production on March 29, 2017. It was shut for maintenance on March 13, 2017.
Located in Yuen Long industrial estate, Hong Kong, the plant has a production capacity of 140,000 mt/year.
4. Asian SM prices edge higher on Tuesday.
SM prices in Asia on Tuesday inched higher. The price rise was prompted by improved buying trends in key markets like China coupled with gains recorded in upstream benzene
values.
FOB Korea prices of SM were assessed at the USD 1120/mt levels while CFR China prices were assessed at the USD 1155/mt levels, both up USD 5/mt from Monday’s
assessed levels.
In the domestic markets of China, SM prices were assessed higher at the Yuan 9225/mt ex-tank levels.
Feedstock benzene prices on Tuesday were assessed up at the USD 775/mt FOB Korea levels, a gain of USD 10/mt on the day.

5. Taiwanese producer offers PolyVinyl Chloride (PVC) in Nepal
A Polymerupdate source in Nepal informed that CGPC, Taiwan has offered its PVC resin suspension grade at the USD 985/mt levels.
This offer is for April 2017 shipment. Once the material arrives at Kolkata, it will be delivered to Nepal by road.
6. Phenol and acetone prices plunge in Asia.
Phenol and acetone prices drifted sharply lower in Asia this week. Bearish buying sentiments coupled with a drop in upstream benzene and propylene values pulled prices steeply
lower across the Asian region.
CFR China prices of phenol were assessed down at the USD 915/mt levels, a tumble of USD 45/mt from the previous week. CFR South East Asia prices were assessed at the USD
965/mt levels, a sharp week on week decline of USD 45/mt.
Feedstock benzene prices on Tuesday were at the USD 775/mt FOB Korea levels, a drop of USD 5/mt from last week.
Acetone prices were assessed lower at the USD 815/mt CFR China levels, a slide of USD 30/mt on the week. CFR South East Asia prices of acetone were down at the USD 855/mt
CFR South East Asia levels, a week on week fall of USD 30/mt.
Feedstock propylene prices on Tuesday were assessed at the USD 875/mt CFR China levels, down USD 15/mt from the previous week. FOB Korea prices were at the USD 835/mt,
a week on week drop of USD 5/mt.
7. Methanol prices in Europe slip.
Methanol prices declined in Europe on Monday. Reports of thin buying interest coupled with bearish upstream energy values together pulled prices of methanol lower in Europe.
FOB Rotterdam prices of methanol were assessed down at the Euro 339/mt levels, a drop of Euro 5.50/mt from last Friday.
Lower methanol rates in Asia and the US further supported the price drop.
In Asia, prices of methanol on Monday were assessed lower at the USD 291/mt CFR China levels, a tumble of USD 10/mt from last Friday’s assessed levels.
In the US, methanol prices last Friday were down at the 108.50 cents/gallon FOB US Gulf levels, a slide of USD 7.25/mt on the day.
7. Toluene prices drop 5$ in Europe.
Toluene prices in Europe edged lower on Monday. The price fall was on the back of weaker upstream energy values coupled with softer buying sentiments in the region.
FOB Rotterdam prices of toluene were assessed down at the USD 585/mt levels, a drop of USD 5/mt from last Friday’s assessed levels.Downstream benzene prices on
Monday were assessed at the USD 765/mt FOB Rotterdam levels, a gain of USD 20/mt from last Friday.Weak cues from Asia further pressured prices lower in Europe.
In Asia, toluene prices on Monday were assessed down at the USD 630/mt FOB Korea levels, a fall of USD 5/mt from last Friday.
