ConstructingYourProgram’sCurriculumMapHerearethreeeasywaysyoucanbegintoconstructyourprogram’scurriculummapthathavebeendiscussedduringtheassessmentbrownbagsessions.1.PaperandPencil:Agreatwaytogetfacultyinvolvedincompletingacurriculummapfortheprogramcouldbetoutilizeworksheetsduringafacultymeeting;listtherequiredcoursesalongwiththeprogramlearninggoals.Askfaculty/instructorstofindthecoursestheyteach,thenindicatewithacheckmarkwhichprogramlearninggoalsarecoveredintheircourse.Collectthosesheetsandcombineanswerstocreatethecurriculummapfortheprogram.2.Doodlepoll:AlotofdepartmentpersonnelarefamiliarwiththewayDoodlepollsworkwhenschedulinggoodmeetingtimesacrossmultipleindividuals.HereisanexampleofawayyoucouldsetupaDoodlepolltocompletethecurriculummap.

InsteadofsettingtheDoodlepolluplikeacalendar,youcouldcustomizeitsothatinsteadofdates,youlistyourprogram’sstudentlearninggoals.Seethisexample:http://doodle.com/poll/viu42c7ekxyc7drv#table.Insteadofenteringtheirnameastheyusuallywould,faculty/instructorsrespondwiththeircoursenumber,coursename,andindicationofitsalignmenttotheprogramstudentlearninggoalswithacheck.Theywouldrepeatthisprocessforeachcourseteach.

2.Qualtrics:Thisoptionrequiresthebuildingofa“survey”tosendouttoyourprogramfaculty.Faculty/instructorsareabletorespondbyselectingtheircoursenumber,thencheckingboxeswiththeirindicationofalignmentwiththelearninggoals.ThefollowingillustrationhighlightstwowaysyoucouldsetupaQualtricssurveytocollectyourprogram’scurriculummapinformation.

Thisfirstoptionrequiresyoutoenterallofthecoursesyouwouldliketohavemappedintoquestion#1onthesurvey.Faculty/Instructorsareabletoselectonecoursefromthelistforwhichtheywillrespond.Inquestion#2,youwouldenteryourprogram’sstudentlearninggoalsintheleftcolumn.Faculty/instructorswouldthenindicate(onanyscaleyouwouldliketoutilize)theextenttowhichthecoursetheyselected“contributesto”eachlearninggoal.
