The “Shareconomy” Wants to Share with Higher Ed There are structural changes affecting every marketplace
- Ease of discovery: power to find exactly what you need, now - Economy of trust: access to others’ unfiltered reports of experience - Efficiency of payment: plummeting cost of transactions - Accountability for outcome: mechanisms for measurement
Higher Education has yet to reflect this shift to a “subscription” model - Go to a campus and take courses before we need (or understand) them - Make choices based on limited and selective data as to what has value - Acquire (and pay for) a degree as if it were a long-lived capital asset - Send money to alma mater for the rest of our lives in voluntary gratitude
