VIETNAM’S FIRST EVER GOOGLE SUMMIT
A SOLD-OUT SUMMIT
Vietnam witnessed its very first Google Summit on Education this past September and all the fantastic action took place on the Concordia Hanoi campus. Representatives from over 20 schools, NGOs, and companies, including Google of course, came together for a two-day conference to see how Google Apps can be used in Education and every day life. The sold-out conference was an exciting blend of keynote speakers from Google, local expert presenters, and some energy-charged “Slam” presentations from attendees themselves.
A “Google Slam” is a competition where you have 2 minutes to present on any great tips, tricks and secrets relating to Google. One of the winners of the slam, our very own Concordia teacher Ms. Abinader, introduced “Google Goggles,” an app that you can take pictures with and it can tell you information about the picture you just took. This is great when traveling, needing to translate a sign, or if in a restaurant and see a celebrity and are not sure what their name is!
The Summit itself had some of those fun moments built in, but ultimately had the goal to teach educators how to use Google Apps, like Gmail, Google Earth, and Google Drive in the classroom and in schools. The weekend was such a hit that a date has already been set for next year’s summit. If you are in Hanoi on September 20-21, 2014 we would love to have you attend Vietnam’s SECOND Google Summit, right here on the Concordia Hanoi campus.
