What is Hardware?
It is the tangible part of a computer system. It simply refers to the equipment and or technology, which is an integral part of the entire system.

Types of Hardware
A computer's hardware devices are categorized as follows:
Motherboard Processor Memory Input and output (I/O) devices Storage devices

CICT
• The main circuit board of a microcomputer
• Abbreviated as “mobo”• Contains chips to control
the standard peripheral devices
• These collection of chips are commonly known as chipset
Motherboard
CICT
• Commonly known as “processor”
• It manages all devices and performs the actual processing of data
Central Processing Unit
CICT
• Holds data and program instructions as the CPU works with them
• Consists of chips and is attached to the motherboard
• This type of memory is called RAM
Memory
CICT
• RAM (Random Access Memory)– is volatile, meaning it holds data only
when the computer is on. The data is lost when the computer is powered off
• ROM (Read-only Memory)– is non-volatile, it holds data even when
the computer is ON or OFF
Types of Memory
CICT
The smallest usable unit of measure for memory is the byte – the amount of memory required to hold one character, like the letter A or the numeral 2
• Computers work with larger chunks of data, measured in multiple bytes, as shown below:
