Advantages
Simplicity or easiness of filling questionnaires since "box answers" are marked by the survey collector or the respondents with an ordinary pencil or pen
High speed of reading / recognition, the scanners can read up to 7500 sheets/ hour (double sided).

Disadvantages
OMR cannot recognize hand-printed or machine-printed characters.
With OMR, images of forms are not captured by scanners so electronic retrieval is not possible.
