IT was celebration time atCardigan’s Guild Hall lastweek as students, staff, familyand friends along with mem-bers of the college’s Board ofGovernors, local employers,Cllr. Catrin Miles, Mayor ofCardigan, and Cardigan TownCouncillors gathered for theannual Cardigan CampusAward Ceremony.

A total of 29 awards were pre-sented this year by the Chair ofGovernors, Allison Coleman.During her address, Allison high-lighted that the awards were pre-sented for a variety of achieve-ments ranging from academicexcellence to outstanding efforton a personal level, and congratu-lated each of them on their suc-cess.

In her closing address, Principal

Jacqui Weatherburn emphasisedthat the awards should be seen asa starting point along a journeyof lifelong learning, and thankedteachers, family and friends fortheir support in helping theaward winners succeed.

Jacqui Weatherburn commentedfurther, "Our annual AwardCeremony is an excellent oppor-tunity for the college and thecommunity to recognise and cele-brate the efforts and achieve-ments of our students. Alltonight’s award winners deserveour heartiest congratulations andwe wish them every success inthe future."

The ceremony was followed by asplendid buffet at the Park PlaceRestaurant prepared and servedby the Catering students andstaff.

CEREMONY CELEBRATES STUDENT SUCCESS

MARBLE MASTERCLASSSTUDENTS at ColegCeredigion’s FurnitureDepartment recently tookpart in a MarblingWorkshop led by renownedlocal specialist decorator,Nia Porter.

Llechryd based Nia is a spe-cialist in decorative techniquessuch as marbling and gilding,and her career has taken her tolocations such as the EgyptianEmbassy, The Royal AlbertHall and Claridges.

The workshop was organisedas part of the Enterprise activ-ities at the college, and enabled

students to learn the basics ofcreating marble finishes usingacrylic paints. They were alsointroduced to a variety of tech-niques to create natural effectssuch as granite and wood grainduring the workshop.

Furniture RestorationLecturer, Richard Perry-Evans,commented "It’s a great privi-lege to welcome such a talent-ed craftsperson to share herexpertise. No doubt the stu-dents will benefit enormously,and we’d like to thank Nia forher time".
