Opportunity

• On April 28, 2009, the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development issued the Notice of Funds Availability for the Brownfield Economic Development Initiative due June 16, 2009.

•$20 Million available in grants of up to $2 Million.

BEDI Program Objectives

Enable redevelopment of brownfield sites

Increase economic opportunities for low- & moderate-income individuals

Leverage HUD 108 Funds to enable redevelopment

10.68 Acre Facility in the E.55/Grand/Kinsman Area• ~5 Acre Greenhouse• Packhouse for preparation of produce to

ship• Truck Bays for Shipping

Green Building Locally-grown produce

Why this Project?

Project will create 40 jobs in the area. Very few pieces of land in the City that are appropriate for this type of development Cooperative corporate structure will create wealth for the workers.

Brownfield Eligibility

Project site is undergoing assessment activities to determine contamination in the area.

City is working with Hull & Associates to determine the clean-up needs and plans.

Land Assembly

City owns the majority of the necessary parcels and the necessary acreage

Working with local organizations to acquire the remaining parcels

Will meet URA & community needs
