Citrix Client – Server Relationship

We set up the Server

You need to set up the Citrix Receiver for your PC to be a Client.

Download receiver at http://www.citrix.com/downloads.html

On the download screen choose the highlighted settings then click “Find”

Then click “Detect my device and install receiver”Follow on-screen instructions to install – allow Citrix to access your PC to install

With receiver now installed, link to https://citrix.unr.edu Read any Alerts, then click OK.

Log in using your NetID and password

All Citrix software available to you will be displayedFor today’s session we will click SPSS – highlighted (crudely) below in yellow

You will likely get a pop-up similar to the one belowAlways allow full/all access – Citrix needs to access your PC to open files you are working on

Retrieve sample Excel file at:http://docs.library.unr.edu/A1/citrix/females.xls

Then save the file to your desktop

Firefox Internet Explorer

When SPSS opens, click “Open another file…”

Still using the “Open” pop-up, drop down “Look in” and select the location on your PC where you have placed the Excel file.

DO NOT select “Local Disk (C:)”, that is C: on CitrixRather select “Local Disk (C: on nameofyourPC)”

Folders on your C: drive are now displayed – double click the “Users” folder(but note the folder names may vary on your personal PC)

On the next list choose the folder having your NetID(but note that this name may vary on your personal PC)

Now double click Desktop (or other folder if you placed the file elsewhere)

Select your Excel file and click Open:

When you click Open you will be asked which worksheet in the file you want to use. There usually will be only one sheet. Click OK

Once you’ve clicked OK your Excel file will be imported into SPSS and automatically converted into SPSS file format
