BioA highly motivated and eager to learn young designer. I have great people and communication skills (both verbally and through my work) that enable me to communicate my proposals and concepts to a high standard. I am able to look into situations to give educated, creative advice in order to achieve the best possible outcome. In 2012 , in the spring of my second year Transportation Design course, I completed a 6-month internship at Xenophya Design. Whilst there I worked on a range of live projects in the motorcycle and power sports industries. I have also organised self-motivated visits to various design studios, including a weeks experience at Jaguar. advanced design.

TAGHEUERAUTOMOTIVE

01

The aim of this project was to teach the importance of brand value within a company when designing a car. A non-

automotive brand was picked, Tag Heuer, to make sure we did not just pick up on aesthetical trade-marked features that all car manufactures have. It makes you look deeper, to help you truly

understand the company.

ASPIRATIONALPERFORMANCE

PerformanceTag Heuer strive for the highest performance in all of their time pieces. The accuracy of time keeping, the material choices, as well as the construction of the piece, are all equally as important as each other in order to create a product worthy of being

brandedTAGHEUER.

InnovationTAGHEUER have always been at theforefront of horological innovation. The first company to develop a time piece accurate to 1/100th of a second. They invented the oscillating pinion, an automatic movement now widely used throughout the watch making industry. Their most recent breakthough being the MICROGIRDERsystem.Abrandnewapproach to automatic watch movement that is accurate up to 5/15000 of a second, impervious to gravity and actually gains its accuracy over its lifespan. AspirationSportsmenandwomen,Actors,RacingDrivers. These people are the face of Tag Heuer. The best at what they do, they are the icons of their time, and for years to come. They are figures that people aspire towards and respect. By using such people to endorse a product, the consumer is lured into the potential lifestyle that thesepeoplehave, bypurchasingaTAG

THE DIRECTION

The time peice I have choosen as a starting

point is the Grand Carrera Calliber RS.

Inspired by motorsport and racing, I want

to transfer the automotive heritage that

inspired this time peice, back into a vehicle

that encapsulates this spirit. What are the

most aspirational, performance vehicles

on the modern market? The mid engine

supercar.

014

DevelopmentTaking my interpritation of what I percieve Tag heuers brand values to be, I set to develop these criteria into an

exterior concept.

I wanted to encapsulate the sporting and performance prowess o f Tag Heuer, as well as the almost perfectionist execution of their watches in a mid engined

4X4 INTERIOR QUICKFIRESELFMOTIVATEDPROJECT

02

A Self Motivated project done in my spare time to improve my interior design skills. The choosen platform being a 4x4 pickup. I wanted to create a rugged feel to the cabin, but still retain the

aesthetic of quality product.

022

RUGGEDLUXURY

ComfortThe Interior must also feel welcoming and luxurious. I want the passengers to feel at ease when inside the vehicle, whilst still retaining a sense that this vehicle is designed to take a few knocks. The mark of luxury is not the grand gesture, but the simple things done well, this phrase will be synonymous with the material choice of the interior, placing the detail and correct material choices where they

matter, and are best suited.

ToughThe interior must be tough enough to withstand the heavy use that 4x4’s go through. It must also look the part, aesteticaly. the surfaceing will be bold and confident, with chiseled features, for

example, the air vents.

023

024

DevelopmentThe Interior must project a tough aesthetic whilst also combining an almost luxurious feel. Unlike the interiors of vehicles such as, Range Rover, or the large GermanSUV’s.TheLuxurywillbeinthequalityof the cabin, not in extravagence. I hope to convey these aspects in my proposals.

Live ProjectXenophya Design

03

Whilst on my 6-month internship with Xenophya Motorcycle Design in my second year of study, I was part of the design team given the task of developing a fairing kit for a Suzuki

Bandit 1250.

030

Suzuki Bandit 1250

Time ScaleGiven that this project was 2d workonly, with 3d development of the final design currently commencing, around 6 weeks was spent on this perticular project, whilst working on other live

projects for different clients.

The ChallengeThe Challenge with this perticular project was working around the existing package. This provided many challenges with regards to the new design, trying to incorprate the existing package, (such as the engine, frame and upper fairing) whilst attempting to get the new lower

fairing to fit with the design.

The AimThe client came to us wanting to develop a lower fairing, aftermarket kit for the Suzuki Bandit 1250. In its standard form, the bandit 1250 is a half faired tourer. The client wanted to provide more protection to the rider (and bike) over longer Journeys, whilst still retaining an

OEM aesthetic to the bike.

031

032

DevelopmentIn my sketch development I wanted to blend the new, lower fairing into the existing upper. I wanted to create an OEM look to the bike, to create a complete aesthetic rather than just a bolt

on afterthought.

033

034

PACKAGECLEARANCE

Sketch Modelingbefore any Sketch work Began, We thought that the best way to work out what was possible was to create sketch models onto the bike, this enanled me to see what the clearences where as well as the possible attachment points on the bike. You can see this on the page

opposite.

ExistingDue to this project being akin to that of a facelift. A pre-determinded package had allready been dictated. This required not only designing the aesthetic aspect of the fairing kit, but also how it interacts with the bikes upper fairing, engine and

frame work.

STREETMUSCLE

The AudienceThe bike is going to be targeted at the market that aspire to own a custom bike, but either do not have the time to design, build and maintain one, or simply cannot afford one. That is where this bike fits in, drawing inspiration from streetfighters, street trackers and muscle bikes, to combine them in a truly special package.

The PackageThe aim is to build the bike around KTM’s current 990 Super Duke. A 990cc V-TwinNaked bike, that combines streetfighter aesthetic with the

muscular power of aV-twin.

The ConceptProducing a custom bike aesthetic, in a KTM production bike package to make it more accessible to the typical KTM customer seeking a custom, street muscle

bike package.
